Mozart would end all debates and laugh at all muscians in the last 50 years

Sometimes I get so sick of discussions about who's better and all that, that I wish we could resurrect Mozart and have him come back and kick EVERYONE'S ASS and laugh in EVERYONE'S FACE!

I beg to differ. I highly doubt Mozart would laugh at Bob Dylan. Bob is a consummate lyricist and there is no one in the past 50 years that even comes close to Bob's genius when it comes to writing. He's the greatest of our time.

Hmmmm interesting. Perhaps. I was speaking more in terms of things like this:

By the age of three Mozart was playing the piano like a pro. He then started learning the harpsichord and violin. By four he was writing his own music. Mozart even put on a concert when he was just six.

After hearing 2 hours of complex vocal harmonies at a classical chior performance, Mozart was able to transcribe EVERY part from memory.

All symphonies were composed in his head and all parts of the entire orchestra were handwritten and contained no mistakes.

If you are referring to his transcription of Allegri's 'Misereri', Mozart made several errors in his transcription - which he corrected when he returned to the Sistine Chapel and heard the piece repeated a second time two days later on Good Friday.

Yes, I know a little bit about Mozart wink he was a true genius, but as I said, I doubt he would laugh at Bob. You also have to take into consideration that their genres of music are completely different from each other. I'm sure Mozart would agree that there isn't a lyricist today that even comes close to Bob.

There's also little reliable evidence that he was playing the piano like a professional at three - that came two years later and writing at four. But at five ...

Out of curiosity, have you ever checked out some of Neil Peart's lyrics? I think some of his material is quite profound lyrically.

I think Mozart would be impressed with musicians who've emerged the twentieth century, I think he'd even be collaborating with some of them. Sure Mozart was a great musical genius, but he wasn't the only one.

I don't know that Mozart was an expert on lyrics, plus he'd need a translator. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like to listen to Dylan's voice or music. They could drink together, though.

Even Prince doesn't like music today, I doubt Mozart would get it. I'm sure he'd be fascinated by the changes that happened, though, particularly in classical music--Debussy, Schoenberg, & maybe even Ellington.

I totally agree.
Great lyricist Mr. Dylan is but i cannot stand his voice.
That's the beauty of listening to the Byrds sing his songs

I look at classical in a history perspective and Mozart would be blown away by Beethoven, Paganinni, Liszt and then the industrial revolution.

Musicians in the last 50 years, Mozart would have learned from, my friend. All of music is a reaction to the music that came before it which makes it a progression. Mozart and his abilities to write melodic, member music is not in question but he would have to catch up to where we are today with computers and music (including the invention of instruments that encompass a different sound scape).

I doubt that. Just because you learned something at an early age doesn't mean you end up better than everyone. Besides, that's like saying Michelangelo is better than Caravaggio or Picasso. Believe it or not, artists have not only changed, but have improved on what was done in the past. As it is, Mozart couldn't hold a candle to modern masters like Prince except in that outdated genre we call classical (another word for obsolete). These days it takes much more than a nice melody to make a great song.

I seriously doubt Mozart had the same abilities Prince,Dylan, or many of the modern greats has. It's very likely he was fit to be great at that time and that time alone. In fifty to one hundred years they'll be saying the same about Prince.

Prince has about a trillionth the talent that Mozart had, and I think Prince is briliant, but I would love to watch Mozart obliterate him. I would smile with delight.

I found bob dylans voice annoying at first too. But his phrasing is great. No one can sing a dylan song like dylan, if u know what I mean.

I can't belive that Prince would have the arrogance to even think that he is worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as Mozart, and for that reason, I would relish Mozart destroying Prince.

What's this damn crap with one musician wasting, destroying and whatever another musician? Thankfully, most musician are much more reasonable about their art.
And about that quote: unless anyone posts the whole interview and source, I don't buy it. That comment is so not Prince-like.

I totally disagree. Good music, like good moviess or good paintings or any good art is timeless. And Mozart's music is much more complex (in certain respects, not all) than most modern day music. The man has more than1 17000 published works to his name, which are certainly on average a helluva lot more complicated than 3-5 minute pop tunes for a 5-9 piece band. 200 years from now they'll still be celebrating the genius of Mozart just as they will with Michelangelo and Picasso and The Beatles, and perhaps Prince (if he's lucky).

Yes I'd love too see Mozart destroy Prince. I'm sure Mozart would rock a crowd with his fierce electric guitar playing, his thunderous bass, his supremely sexual voice and his dance moves.

It was great for that time, but his work was limited in comparison to modern musicians who have a vast vocabulary of musical elements to work with. Maybe he would be fluent in them all were he around today, but I doubt it. In much the same way Michelangelo couldn't hold a candle to Picasso. These "classical" artists were great at what they did but were limited by their time and circumstances if nothing else.
