Revisiting: Ciara

Ok, Ok....I'm really liking this chick. From the first video, to this current one for "Oh!" I think the girl has improved.

I changed the way I was thinking about her and other new artist when I recently saw "what have you done for me lately" by Janet. Gawd....Janet wasn't the best dancer at that time BUT by the third video for Control album, she was looking good and dancing better. It seems the same with Ciara. I'm not saying she's some musically talented newbie but she is at least enjoyable.

By the way, is she like the only "crunk'n'b" singer or what?

I also really like Ciara. I think she's talented in the same ways Janet is.

I think there's another Crunk n' B artist called Brooke Valentine. I think she's the one with that terrible song "girlfight". I saw the video once and I couldn't believe how bad it was. God bless Ciara.

Ciara's "Goodies" LP has some undeniable jams on it. I can't front. I was digging "Oh*!" wayyy back in October of last year. "Hotline" is another footstomper. I'll give it up to Jazzy Pha because he didn't front with the production on this one. Plus, Ciara's dance moves are ILL. She's starting to look sexier every video. Nice Janet abs*!

I wouldn't call Brooke Valentine a "Crunk 'n' B" artist. Her debut single was produced by Lil Jon, but her album, Chain Letter is a Subliminal recording. She's based out of Houston. Her album is bumpin' and it has some killer cuts on it. Look past "Girlfight" and listen to the track "Pass Us By" — that is one of the hottest f**king songs of the year. If that's not made into a single, someone's doing her a serious disservice.

Ciara. Yuck. Eye candy at best; Aaliyah knockoff at worst. Uninspired lyrics. Weak melodies. Weak dancing. This Crunk mess has to go. VERY SOON.

Nope... and Big Boi's rap is weak on it. I steer clear of most Lil Jon productions anyway, there's a few exceptions —- this one sho' ain't the case.

I'm starting to feel her too. When "Goodies" first came out last summer, i was just like "eh" towards it. But now with "Oh" and "1,2 Step" i'm starting to dig this chick.

That's like me. I think it's because "Goodies" was a Lil Jon beat, but the rest isn't.

The hottest thing Lil Jon produced last year, IMO, was "Freek-a-Leek." That beat was dirrty and I loved the quad in it.

Edit: But if you want to get into some really hot Lil Jon productions (back when he was just some dude making bass records out of Atlanta), you should check out the Rhythm & Quad 166, Vol. 1 CD. It's an Atlanta bass/quad compilation. Lil Jon's production is featured heavily throughout on some ill tracks by Emperor Searcy and A-Town Players. He's using some obscure loops and the whole album is banged out. The CD's best known for the breakout hit "(Shorty) Swing My Way" by KP & Envyi.

Thanks for the recommendation. Wasn't "Goodies" an answer record to "Freek-a-Leek"?

I think Lil Jon got lazy and gave Ciara, Petey Pablo and Usher the same beat.

The moves in "goodies" were poor.

Modern pop video choreography sucks these days usually. "1,2 step", as I have said before has naff moves.

Choreography is too quick. It does not impress me how fast u can dance. Like that movie "u got served" and "honey". confused

I'm Not A Big Fan of modern R&b or Rap/Hip Hop, but I'm starting to like Ciara as well. Ever since isaw the video for "1,2 Step" i was like Ciara really isn't a mediocre tramp at all. however she is kinda manly , and super tall i wonder if those rumors about her being a man is true.....
