What is the point of the following people in the music business? seems to me that recording artists have to split their checks many ways. Why? Can't people learn to do shit themselves? can't people buy their own recording studios, print their own shit, count their own money? I mean, seriously, WTF? Are people so above others that they can't handle their own fucking business? When I read about Coldplay and Linkin' Park and Trent Reznor, I'm like damn. Am I supposed to feel sorry for these mostly rich and spoiled motherfuckers? Can someone explain it to me?

Manager Basically, to get you work. Accountant I think we've all seen that musicians, for the most part, are really fucking pathetic when it comes to handling money/business. Prince, Elton, Hammer, the list goes on and on. But make sure you hire 2 accountants, one to watch the other, because the one person who can blow your stack of cash faster than you is the guy you hired to make sure you didn't. The myth of a one man music industry is just that. A MYTH. Its one thing if you want to be local and just play to small groups of people for free or very little money. Sure you can do all of that on your own in that capacity. To have a successful career, you need ALL of the above plus a PR person and several others. Prince pushed a bullshit story via Warner Bros. of a mythical one man island when in fact, there's no way you can do a decent job at all those things. You need a team. | |
