new "chicks" on the block

Madonna, Bjork, Kate Bush and Tori Amos transcend normal music bondaries...
Their work is timeless!

Can the new "chicks" on the block get this status and this kind of creative output?

No, i think they all arrived at a bad time.
Songs like Madonna's "Holiday" which only made it into the top 20, will outlast most #1 hits the new chicks put out today.

Though i admit to liking Britney's music just to dance to.

Two new "chicks" that transcend musical boundaries:

Regina Spektor

Nellie McKay

Whether they achieve the success that the aforementioned artists have is another question. They certainly deserve it I think. I love both their albums.

Depends on who you deem to be "new" chicks.

Like the record companies, the fans no longer give artists time to develop and find their voice.

They need to come out of the box, brilliant or we think they suck. confused
