Jermaine Stewart? Okay, can someone fill me in on this man, i've only just heard of him and i feel i missed a great singer from the 80's...

"The Word is Out' was a beat. He lost me with "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off". The video for that might be the funniest shit I've seen to this day Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

he passed sometime back in the late 90's due to a disease with a little name . . . he was non-romantically linked to Jody Whatley ((i think)). i enjoyed his work . . . music is its own reward - Sting

Yes, Jermaine's single "Jody" (from the 'Frantic Romantic' album) was about Jody Watley. She later hooked him up with Andre Cymone who produced a few tracks for his 'Say It Again' LP in 1987.

I used to have the album on vinyl along with the three 12" singles that were released with it. I sold them all on ebay recently. It was okay--unremarkable R&B-influenced dance pop.

Jermaine was an interesting character. He used to be a singer with Shalarmar at one time along with Jody.

The lyric about drinking some Cherry wine was killer and would always have me cracking up at his expense.

I love that one. It reminded me so much of Art of Noise's "Beat Box". Andy is a four letter word.

I got his 2 albums "frantic romantic" and "say it again"
His "say it agian" album is a dissapointment though. Andre gave jody watley some superb songs and production (my fav being "l.o.v.e.r"- awesome drums) but kinda missed out on jermaine. Album woulda sounded very dated by the time it came out too. "dont talk dirty" is ok. "say it again", the track is superb feel good fun. The real sequel to "we dont have to take our clothes off" was not "dont talk dirty" though, it was eddie Murphys high camp classic "put your mouth on me", one of my all time fav songs. Even had the same producer, the great Narada Michael Walden. People on here know I love that track.
