Or, paradoxically, I didn't truly appreciate some songs until I fell for someone who ultimately rejected me. The funny thing is, I can hear those songs and remember 1) feelings I had for that someone, 2) how the song made me think about that someone, and 3) the rejection itself. Some songs I caught on to AFTER the deed was done, but they're still meaningful. Examples of these kinds of songs:

"Adore" -- Prince
"And God Created Woman" -- Prince
"Living For The Love of You" -- The Isley Brothers
"My Life" -- Mary J. Blige
"Kiss From A Rose" -- Seal

"eye Can't Make U Love Me" -- prince

"Old Friends 4 Sale (original) -- Prince and the Revolution
"Lost In You" -- Chris Gaines
"Fly Me To The Moon" -- Frank Sinatra

"Fool of Me" -- Me'Shell Ndegeocello
"Valse" -- Bill Evans
"I'll Do Anything" -- Ginuwine
"Everything's All Right" -- J.C. Superstar
"Sincerity" -- Me'Shell Ndegeocello

Oh, ya. The "Bitter" LP gets me every time. That's my ultimate depression album. If I'm feeling sad, melancholic, suffering from rejection or some combination of the three, I spin this disc: wallow in it, cry it out and tread on. Very catharic.

er

"One Moment In Time" By Ms. Houston. That day, i was in 4th grade, and my fish had died that morning before i went to school, and i was crying SO bad the whole day that my mom had to come pic me up from school because of how upset i was, and i was sitting in the back of the car and she turned the radio on, and i don't know why, but i heard that song and f*cking LOST it. Ironically, that song made me a HUGE Whitney fan. I still get emotional everytime i hear it.

Awww... that's a sad, but cute story.
