Lenny Kravitz? Nope. George Michael I could accept, but Lenny doesn't even have the pipes to hang with Prince or MJ. Sorry. Good voice, not great. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I dont think that anyone would argue that Luther's voice is superior.

To me, Maxwell is the only one who can stand in the shadow of Michael and Prince vocally.
Just listen to his MTV Unplugged album..

I'd say Al Jarreau, though he's a different style.
plus Luther & Stevie for sure For passionate, emotional singing I'd put John Lennon and even Kurt Cobain, but I guess you probably meant living. [Edited 5/2/05 16:05pm] Check this song out at:

Of course you think John Lennon and Kurt Cobain had passionate, emotional voices and had the nerve to bring up Al Jarreau of all people. I can't agree with you there. Stevie's voice is my favorite male voice outside of Marvin Gaye who is probably my favorite. MJ is in their league as is Luther. TTD is too inconsistent. I'm not so sure about Prince in terms of voice alone. Sting has a good voice-- hard to compare so I'll just say he's got one of the better voices. George Michael too. Elvis and Seal-- no.

Luther??? GEORGE MICHAEL???? SEAL????? JOSH GROBAN?????Come on, people. My Altoids have more soul than Josh Groban.
Curtis Mayfield, rest his soul, is the correct answer. Go buy "Back To The World" and "Superfly" and "New World Order" for proof....There will be a quiz tomorrow, so study up. Occupy Alphabet Street!

Jeffery Osborne. In the same class as Luther imo listen to songs like "concentrate on you" "stranger" "we both deserve each other love" "love ballad" This man is one of the most underated singers. Can't understand why he never got the crossover appeal that he deserve.
