Yes, but MJ is no longer a child, he's a grown man. I guess someone should let him in on this eh?!

Mike's killer adult vocal tracks:

1) Who Is It
2) Give Into Me
3) Can't Let Her Get Away
4) Little Susie
5) Don't Walk Away
6) Heavan Can Wait
7) Liberian Girl

i prefer prince's vocals, personally. he's got far more range than mj and its stronger. i love mj and janet but they definitely have soft voices and little range. its ok for what they do but it does make it difficult to step into other genres. that's why prince can do anything from funk to rock to folk...its all in the range.

are you sirious? I mean you're right about jan, but come on you can't siriously think MJ has "little range" and "soft voice", and that he cant "step into other genres"...that just bulshit, if you think he's just pop

there's no comparison between Prince's vocals and MJ's. Prince vocals are alright. No falsetto no high notes though.

P better musician? Yes. Better vocalist? Hell no.

maybe some people to should listen to 'keep the faith' on the dangerous album, mjs vocals on this are amazing, imo its an underated track that never got a lot of attention it deserved!!

i agree mjs vocals are better than price

couple of years back i saw prince and terence trent d'arby with in a month of eachother, and i have to say on the nights ttd, amazed me more.... not to say hes better overall, but live ttd was breath taking!!!

Yeah! Especially at the end of "Keep the Faith" when Mike is just spitting out those lines...so much soul!

I mean, do you really think MJ could sing Do Me, Baby, God, or Solo?

I think Mike can sing any falsetto song of Prince, but never reaches the lowest Prince voice...

Prince has a better voive than Mike when he sings in falsetto or sings very low, but when he uses his normal voice, I prefer Mike...

Michael can't bust high notes or dip into low notes as well as Prince and is slightly less versatile, but anybody who thinks Michael has little range and Prince is technically more gifted is freaking kidding themselves. lol Prince can't get his point across without using some kind of alternate tone, whereas MJ can just open his mouth and beautiful noise will come out.

Plus, Prince's singing does almost nothing but make me laugh, whereas MJ's singing caresses my soul (and that sounds corny as hell but it's true). Take this excerpt from an '87 "Bad" tour Osaka concert, for example:

MJ: (after "I'll Be There", with soul) Iiii'll beee... I'll be.. bee-ee-eeee... can you (with grit) FEEEEL it!.... HEEE-HEE!..... HEEEEE-HEE!... (with soul again) Ohhh-ohhhaaayyyaaaooowww!!!

I just about f-cking died.

MIke has a more limited range of things his voice would be good for.

But the quality of it is much better than Prince's.

But with Prince, you don't just get the blues and reds--you get yellows, oranges, purples--you name it.

I just can't listen to MJ anymore without thinking PERVERT!!!

So, my vote goes to Prince. nod

Is that so? I wish I had a clip or something. All I remember from a Yokohama concert is Mike not being able to sing "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" worth crap.

Or maybe I was watching a different one?

well there were 5 yokohama shows and 6 osaka. Now the yokohma show I've seen is also the one mike shows on the one special. That show I think also has mike's best moonwalk. The only osaka show I've seen is not as good as this one.

Mike's falsetto is untouchable. I love Prince's lower register. razz I agree, little MJ was the ish, but check out MJ's vocals on the Jacksons album Going Places. This was after his voice had changed and before his trademark hiccups and ticks, and the voice was butta! Silky smooth with a bit of funky raspiness. ALthough I think he's still an outstanding and underrated vocalist, his style is sometime too affected, making it easy to mimick (and mock.)
There was a file on the internet a while back that featured MJ doing vocal warm ups,(I guess during the Invincible sessions) and I was shocked to hear him in bass C eek He's obviously more diverse as a tenor than a bass, but it would be interesting to hear him do something in a lower key. He most showases his range on the HIStory album.

No, I'm not just saying it for a reaction.... it's true and you know it!

Although Prince has a more impressive deeper vocal IMO, he simply couldn't sing a lot of the songs that Michael belts out without going into his falsetto.

I was listening to "We've Had Enough" and in the first bridge MJ uses his falsetto and then on the second he belts it out in his regular voice and I just thought "Prince simply COULDN'T sing this."

Although I agree that a technically good singer doesn't always make for a better vocalist... I still think MJ is the stronger of the two.

What d'ya reckon?

I think so too.

Of course not. Prince has other things to do in his childhood, like self-learning the piano, guitar, bass, and drums!!!cool

BTW, The Jackson 5 were awesome. Lil'Mike had a bright future ahead of him (no pun intended!).

they are both just as good as what they are supposed to do with their voice.

U cant compare Elvis' voice to Little Richards.

prince couldnt sing a MJ song correctly in my opinion. I would cringe hearing Prince try to wing out some "Lady In My Life" or "I Cant Help It" or "Keep The Faith.
Imagine Prince tryin on "Lady In My Life" boxed

Just as much as I would cring MJ trying some "Scandelous" "Call My Name" (that might actually be good though) " eye Hate U"
Imagine Mike sayin "ima cover yo ass with thsi sheet. And I want u 2 pump yo hips like u used to" falloff
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I think Prince's voice is far superior to Michael's. "Do Me, Baby" is proof of that. At one point, Prince gets so low, he could almost be mistaken for Larry Graham. At another point he gets higher than Philip Bailey. And no one can scream like Prince except some of the heavy set ladies. I'd love to see Prince in a screaming competition with Jennifer Holliday and Martha Wash. lol

Tucked away on a boxset. What a shame more people haven't heard this track. 2004 track too. Even though the lyrics don't pertain to be about the arrest and the then upcoming trial, (the versus are about violence, the war on terror and Iraq) you can still tell. You can feel the venom, the anger, the grief and despair of it all. Dramatic and brilliant. Fantastic vocals throughout.

We've Had Enough

Love was taken from a young live
And no one told her why

Her direction has a dimlight
From one more violent crime
She innocently questioned why
Why her father had to die

She asked the men in blue
How is it that you get to choose
Who will live and who will die
Did god told you you could decide ?

You saw he didn't run
And that my daddy had no gun

In the middle of the village
Within a distant land
Lies a cool boy with his broken toy
To young to understand

He's awaken, ground is shaking
His father grabs his hand
Screaming crying, his wife's dying
Now he's left to explain

He innocently questioned why
Why his mother had to die
Why did these soldiers come here for ?
If they're for peace why is there war ?

Did god say that they could decide
Who will live and who will die ?
All my mama ever did
Was try to take care of her kids

We're innocently standing by
Watching people losing lives
It seem as if we have no voice
It's time for us to make a choice

Only god could decide
Who will live and who will die
There's nothing that can't be done
If we raise our voice as one

Did god hear it from me ?
Did god hear it from you ?
Did god hear it from us ?

We can't take it
We've already had enough

Did god hear it from me ?
Did god hear it from you ?
Did god hear it from us ?

We can't take it
We've already had enough

Thank god I care for me
Thank god I care for you
Thank god it came from you babe

We can't take it
We've already had enough

Deep in my soul baby

Deep in your soul and by your side

Deep in my soul

It's so big and i'm still alive

Did god hear it from us ?

We can't take it
We've already had enough

It's going down baby
Just let god decide,

It's going on baby
Just let god decide

Deep in my soul baby

We've already had enough

My twocents

Ugh! why do people insist on spelling 'losing' as 'loosing'? edit.

I wish Mike did or does more gospel.

I love him on "will u be there"

Thanx for mentioning "we've had enough". Its been a while since I heard that song. It has the classic beatbox intro that u know MJ wrote and mouthed

I love hi when he is quiet too though, like "for all time" where he does not shout. Also "fall again" has a beuty quality too. Mike got the best and most unique backing vox around.
