iPod - Shuffle Mode

okay, i know i'm a geek, but... I listen to music all day at work on my ipod, and work is really slow right now. Literally, I play music from the time i get there until the time I leave - usually on shuffle mode. So i thought it would be fun to keep track of what came up during the span of one day, and post it.

I have a 20gig ipod... it's about half-way full. i'm trying to keep it a "now playing" type thing rather than use it as a storage device. So shuffle mode is perfect - it's like my own private radio station. I love it!!!!

Anyway, i'd be curious to see some of the stuff other people have on their ipods, and if anyone else uses shuffle mode like this.

Very nice taste Mr. Snow. thumbs up!

I've never tried out the shuffle mode yet. I think I'm already too ADHD for that. lol

And I've got a 40 Gig iPod and it's about a quarter full. But I think I loaded it up so much with my favorites, that there are only 12 artists on there. It probably wouldn't be a very varied list, even if I did shuffle it.

shuffle mode has made my life so much better. i just plug that sucker into my computer speakers at work and let 'er rip all night. it's true - it's the answer to wanting to listen to radio and have it all be what you wanna hear! love it.

good thing i don't own an iPod. wink (i have a nomad)

even with a multi-CD changer on a stereo, the mp3 player takes it to another level - there's less interruption between songs, and most importantly, it's PORTABLE. nod

i guess it's good for people who want in on the ipod craze, but don't have a lot of money or own a lot of music. i've thought about getting one for my mom and just putting a bunch of bowie or beatles songs on it. it's just a bauble, something silly that has a bit of utility to it (but not much). i don't see why any serious music geek would want one, unless they wanted one specific player for one specific artist or kind of music. who knows. shrug

yeah, I guess. They should just go the distance to at least get a mini...it's not that much more. I don't hear too many people talking about the shuffle though, so I don't think it'll last. I feel like most people who buy mp3 players are big music/tecnhology fans from the get go, so this isn't their cup of tea.

i've seen a lot of people here in chicago wearing shuffles around their necks, and lots of people with regular iPods - i think people who buy shuffles are folks who like the idea of not having to tote around CD wallets, but also don't own tons of music and just wanna hear the five or six albums they really like over and over. nothing wrong with that, i guess, but it doesn't serve me at all.

I didn't know they hang around your neck like necklaces.....cool. Are the headphones the same as the regular ipods? I personally think those are the most uncomfortable headphones on the planet and they always slip out. I just use my other pair. The size is convenient, but apple should work on making the actual earbuds a little more comfortable.

I have the 20g iPod and the 512mb Shuffle. Since buying the Shuffle, I have seriously reduced my use of the 20g iPod. Carrying the iBrick around is drag compared to the featherlight Shuffle. It's perfect for the gym of riding my bike and I don't worry about it getting stolen or dropped. 110 songs is plenty of music for most of my portable music needs. I still love the 20g for the car or extended trips away from home (and it is a nice backup device for my music library), but for sheer portability and on-the-go tunes, the shuffle is where its at! nod

speaking of iPods.....my brother just got his iPod,maybe 3 months ago, and it just died on him the other day. omg I wonder if other people are having the same problem. I know with mine, sometimes the games, like music quiz, don't work. shrug It doesn't bother me, since I never play them, but at the same it irks me to know that there's a glitch on my iPod. oh well.

if you wanna feel something heavy, get a NOMAD. it's like toting around a little video game from the '80s. lol

i still love my nomad, though - it's way smaller and less bulky than schlepping around a discman and a cd wallet, and a 40g nomad is cheaper than a 20g iPod...and i've yet to have a problem with it. nod

my boyfriend has an iPod and sometimes i kinda drool at the design of the thing, but as far as utility goes, i don't feel like i want for anything with owning a nomad. it's bulkier, but i can use it at the gym and hardly notice it. i just wish it had as many different swanky speaker options as the iPod has.

I just ignore the ipod shuffle and get myself a same sized, half the price USB flash MP3 player.

I get "RANDOM" on it, I get a screen, I get file/album allocation, an FM radio, a storage device and I can play any file type I choose.

I then go out for the evening and spend the money I saved for not buying an I-con.

I had never seen the Nomad, until I went to the site. Those Creative Zen Micros are kinda cute, but thing I want is that portable media center. I'd be entertained for hours with that.

I can't tell you where you can find that sized flash player for that price, but I would suggest that you go to Pricewatch.com and search under mp3 players by price or brand.
