I think she's way overrated, but she's quite a good pop artist. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I've never liked Madonna as a person (not that I know her personally but from what I've gathered and witnessed she strikes me as really pretentious and b*tchy.. which I guess is what some people love about her but I could never stand it myself  ).
But if we're talkin' about the music, Madonna is an excellent pop artist (though her last album, I thought, was lyrically inane, musically lackluster compared to previous efforts, and how many times must we hear her life story?) and an absolutely genius performer. She is one of the ultimate in theatricality and she never repeats herself. She's still the Queen to me. She was the first female performer to ever successfully reinvent herself time and time again without losing her popularity and without her, the modern pop scene wouldn't have been quite the same.
EDIT: Oh, yes! And I'll admit she can't sing and her voice can be annoying but she's not the worst out there. [Edited 4/30/05 19:30pm] | |
