Not into sappy "melt your heart" kind of stuff but this song is so selfless. Saw the play 3 times, just for this song (Never told anyone that. The things you say in anonymity):
(The performance is sweet. Maybe the lyrics alone seem a bit corny...I can't tell at this point. I can't separate the two)

Bring Him Home

God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there

He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.

Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy.

You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live.
If I die, let me die
Let him live, bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

I thought that song was a little odd. And wordy. But since I'm not familiar with it, it's hard to know that you were being funny. I just assumed it was some emotional rock-opera/country song about a kid with a stuttering problem.

You should have played this one straight. Especially with lyrics, 'cause they can go either way depending on how they're performed.

I would ask if TheSexofit caught on but I know that he too was misled. This would not be a laughing matter to him. He takes this Joey thing very seriously. (He has buttons and everything)

I guess we'll have to wait 'til someone creates the non-ambiguous version of this thread.

Too many countless Prince/Stevie/Pink Floyd songs to mention.

-a false image-

Right now
I'll fall for you,
when the skies not blue
I'll fall for you
I swear I will

and I will never fall for you
and this
will be the last place in my heart for you
I'm running faster to the ground
and everything was just a simple sound

is there something separating us?
because I swear that you lost your touch
my eyes are on the prize
with every single disguise and right now the sky is falling
who are you friends? I dont like 'em!

China by Tori Amos

China all the way to new york
I can feel the distance getting close
You’re right next to me
But I need an airplane
I can feel the distance as you breathe

Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build a great wall around you
In your eyes I saw a future together
You just look away in the distance

China decorates our table
Funny how the cracks don’t seem to show
Pour the wine dear
You say we’ll take a holiday
But we never can agree on where to go

Sometimes I think you want to me to touch you
How can I when you build a great wall around you
In your eyes I saw a future together
You just look away in the distance

China all the way to new york
Maybe you got lost in mexico
You’re right next to me
I think that you can hear me
Funny how the distance learns to grow

Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build a great wall around you

I can feel the distance getting close

We do. And we get it. And it's funny...especially the "chuck-a-can" part.
The problem was that it was the post that started the thread. At that point it's just a one post joke. It would have been funnier if it were posted further down. Also because you can't really tell that it's a funny song unless you hear it.

It also demonstrates why these "Post a lyric that...etc etc " are pretty pointless, because most people don't wanna read what others have put, they just want to post their own lyric.

If that's the case, then that's fine. But I did read them. My point was that I'm reading the lyrics under the premise that it's some song that "melted your heart". Unless you also included a link to the audio sample, it's hard to know that it was actually funny.

Also, I doubt it's true that most don't read. What did you want them to do? Follow thru with the irony? I bet everyone just felt that you were moved by this stuttering thing. Different things move different people.

Anyway, it's not a big deal. The thread took on it's own direction...you should have left your post. It actually became funnier the more we posted the "irony free"posts.

Is this a trick post?
Are you trying to get me to admit that I listened to that song or something?
Well I didn't.

I didn't start this Thread. Slash did. I didn't realize that you could change a title. That kinda sucks. Like what if someone starts the thread: Things you can't wait to do and after we all post they change it to Things you would never do.
That would really suck for you 'cause then everyone would think you're straight and that you no longer want to listen to little Joey every hour on the hour
