Tori Amos - The ADORATION thread (Finally!)

I think it's 4 us 2 make a massive adoration 4 Tori Amos! She deserves it!
Express it in words, pics and share ur experiences U had with tori's music! biggrin

and here r the lyrics of my favorite Tori Tune wink

Don't say the morning's come.
Don't say it's up to me.
If I could take twenty-five minutes,
Out of the record books...

Sugar,
He brings me sugar.

Bobby's collectin' bees and hammers.
He used one on me.
Cold war with little boys...
Get in with a bubble-gum trade.

And sugar,
Bring me sugar.
I know all the robins bring...
Bring me many things,
But sugar,
He brings me sugar.
As far as I can tell,
I've been gone for miles now.

You know and I know
I don't know me very well.
And I know me, you know.
If they found me out...

Sugar,
He brings me sugar.
I know all the robins bring...
They bring me many things,
But sugar,
He brings me sugar.
I know all the robins bring
They bring many things,
But sugar...

well, id much prefer tori overkill over madge, janet, britney and beyonce overkill..

at least tori's art (and not her antics) will be debated in thirty to forty years....unlike the above mentioned.

I'll share my experience. I listen to her at work because my boss plays her incessantly. I had absolutely no exposure to Tori and on the surface she sounded sort of country, and I really have no fondness for all those countryesque-female singers so I sort of zoned out. I didn't even pay attention, except the piano was nice because I'm a musician too and could appreciate that.

AND THEN...one day Cloud on My Tongue was playing. I had heard it a hundred times before, but at this one certain moment something happened. She was doing her "...circles and circles and circles again...circles and circles and circles..."

There I was at the office bookkeeping on my computer and it was like a lightning bolt! idea2 lightning The song just dropped into and through my skin and I felt slightly intoxicated. And I said, "I'm really getting into this music." And my boss said, "Oh, I love Tori." And after that moment it was like a hunger that could not be satiated.

Very strange.

I know!

I said such nice things too.

Thanks for welcoming me to the exclusive club, Huey.

I do so adore Tori though-she's amazing.

I've loved her work since Little Earthquakes and always love seeing what'll happen next.

biggrin

(I guess Myra Ellen wouldn't have had the same ring to it...)

I think ANYONE saying "I played her since Y Kant Tori Read" is an awful liar and does not have ANY taste.

I love Earthquakes still SO much. It is a timeless album, that will ring for ages to come.

Absolutely-I think many of her albums are underrated too.

To Venus and Back is one I think, Scarlet's Walk never quite got the attention it deserved as well.

I don't think she's ever really gone in the wrong direction really.

She always seems to evolve-and man, that voice.

biggrin

Cannot say much because I only have Little Earthquakes and Scarlet's Walk yet, but it seems a VERY beautiful world of new music is waiting for me!
