Girlie Show: Las Vegas

Madge only hit NY Phily the MotorCity and San Juan Puerto Rico when the Girlie Show hit stateside in 1993. The rest of the country had to wait til November 13th to catch one of the highest rated music speicals on HBO "Madonna: the Girlie Show Live Down Under." It is also now out on video but now it appears Madonna is looking to move the show to Las Vegas full time.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 2005--Q Television Network, (Pink Sheets: QBID) announced today that Rodney A. Omanoff has joined Q Television Network as a consultant, bringing with him some major Hollywood celebrities to the Q Network family.

Rodney A. Omanoff gained recognition early on in his career as a talent agent when he founded, co-owned and served as President of one of the most renowned live performance booking agencies in the country, representing national comedy touring acts such as Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Paul Rodriguez, George Lopez, Pauly Shore, Damon Wayans, Arsenio Hall, Kevin Pollak, Richard Lewis, Tommy Chong, and many more.

Today Mr. Omanoff owns and operates Creative Management Group (CMG) and Creative Production Group (CPG) with offices in New York and Los Angeles. CMG represents celebrity clients including prominent talent such as Ms. Roseanne Barr.

CPG develops and produces projects for television, film, and live performance. Their film division develops and produces motion pictures to be set up and distributed by the major studios. Some high profile projects currently in development include, but are not limited to, a co-production with Madonna's Boy Toy Productions to develop and produce a permanently mounted live production show in Las Vegas called "Madonna's Girlie Show Live", with Madonna as Executive Producer, CPG as Producer, and Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone as Director; and motion picture rights to the hit 1970's television sitcom, "Good Times."

Commenting on his appointment, Omanoff stated, "I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with the Q Network family. With Q Television's focus on dedicating their resources to securing and producing the most powerful content, whether funny, touching, moving or exciting portraits of real-world happenings, I strongly feel this opens the door for many new programming opportunities."

"We are very pleased to have such a well established and well known producer and talent representative on our team. Considering Mr. Omanoff's creative expertise as a talent representative and producer, his strong clientele list, and the respect he has from the large pool of Hollywood's top talent, we at Q Television feel that great opportunities will arise for our programming and viewers," said Frank Olsen, President and CEO of Q Television Network.

I was one of the lucky ones who saw this live. I had no idea at the time that it was such a limited run. God bless Detroit!

Wow! This was my first M gig! I saw her at Wembley Stadium and I was fifteen.

I will never forget my father's face when that dancer slid down the pole in the g-string in the opening sequence. He nearly tore the binoculars off me... bless him.

This was an amazing show. She was so humbled by the crowd, she thanked us for standing by her when she had had such a shitty year with the "Sex" outcry and the media bashing.

Not sure you could ever recreate this though.

The Girlie Show f*ckin' rocked. That show was so tight--the costumes, the production, the choreography. One of my favorite shows ever. Those pictures make me wish I could relive the experience.

fun facts about the Girlie Show.

It only played in 21 cities worldwide and all 41 shows soldout.
started on Sept 25 in London and ended on Dec 19 in Tokoyo.

It was the last time that Madonna toured Japan

It was the first and last time Madonna had ventured to Mexico, South America and Austrilia
It was her first visit to Isreal

Some venues forbade toplessness, so Carrie Inaba had to wear a halter top to
conceal her assets.

In Toronto Madonna held up traffic when she jogged through the streets.

Orthodox Jews staged protests to cancel Madonna's first-ever show in Israel.

In Puerto Rico, an uproar was caused when Madonna rubbed the Puerto Rican flag between her legs on stage.

Caught by reporters at the birthplace of Christ in Bethlem, Madonna called them "sons of whores" and hurled other vicious slurs in Hebrew and Arabic, then dodged a meeting with Mayor Teddy Koleck.

The Girlie Show required 1500 costumes for the cast, and a 24-hour set up time for the enormous stage.

The Monologue between Bye Bye Baby and I'm Going Bananas was changed to fit the vencular of the commmunity she was in

The Monologue after La Isla Bonita was normally just random thoughts from her Madgesty and thank yous

The Monologue in Holiday changed nitely sometime was used to Punish Cast and Crew and make them do pushups on stage, sometiems just a rant about what location she was in, and sometimes just a skip to the sing a long that changed nitely.

The performers said the worst part about the show was that on the Catwalk it was so loud they cound hear anything. The audience was so loud that it drowned out monitors.

In some cities Madonna was playing right after Michael Jackson left town, right before he got to town, or at the same time that MJ was performing.
