Where's REmy Shand? I've been wondering what happened to him. Seems like he's fallen off the face of the earth, they haven't updated his site in 2 years though he's still on Motown's artist roster. DOes anybody know what happened to this great artist?

I don't know, but when you find out, let us know. I asked about him on the Motown message boards, but no reply, and the boards have been down for awhile. I don't have a good feeling about Motown and how they don't support their artists especially after their debut. I hope I'm wrong but I miss him and India.Arie. I've been wondering the same thing.I can't seem to find any updated info on him,and there is no sign of a new album.I do know this...the guy who signed him to Motown (Kedar Massenburg) is no longer with that company.Perhaps Remy is trying to get out of his Motown contract as well?

DavidEye - I hear you mentioning Remy Shand quite often. I'd never heard of him until recently - what type of music is it? Who does he compare to?

He's a young,White Canadian artist who plays soul music. Not todays' plastic, uninspired R&B....but REAL SOUL MUSIC like back in the day.His debut album 'The Way I Feel' is the most genuinely soulful album I've heard in years. His influences are Sly Stone,Curtis Mayfield,Marvin Gaye and Al Green. You can hear these influences on his album. In addition,he writes his own songs and plays mostly all the instruments (sound familiar?).

Motown has a handful of truly talented artists (Stevie Wonder,India Arie and Remy Shand) yet they don't know what to do with them! That label has become a sad joke these days.

Motown has upper management issues. A friend of mine was signed to them and explained how things go over there from an artist's perspective. Most of their problems stem from big heads not being able to agree on things. Plus, their marketing dept. is "safe". Safe=lame nowadays.
