Absolutely. Michael will struggle horribly to get his career back on track. Even if he is found not guilty of these charges, mud sticks unfortunately and many find his lifestyle and life choices distasteful. Even his last singles showed signs of seriously slowing down. He will always make money out of his back-catalogue.

And the Beatles'. Unless he sells 'em.

He won't starve on the streets, no.

Do you know - I was thinking the other day. Back in the eighties if you'd said either of the three statements below people would have laughed you out of town:

Madonna will be settled with a family in England and will have found religion

Prince will be a Jehovah's Witness and will have denounced his old "assless pants" ways

Michael Jackson will be in court on child abuse allegations

Seriously - it's a crazy world.

How true. In the 80s there were only 3 people that mattered to me: the trio of Michael, Prince and Madonna. All born the hot months of the same year, all breaking ground in music and performance. There is no way in hell I'd imgaine them where they are now but I'm glad they're all still around; Prince and Madonna still doing their thing in their own way... but Michael's situation is just depressing.

I've been saying that for years!
everybody thinks im nutz!

Just one night put away the highwater pants and loafers
grab a guitar, sit by at the piano
and just sing man
he can tell stories about how he wrote some songs etc...
that would be so cool

be we all know...
that his ego is much to big for that

dude made himself into a statue...

I think this an excellent idea.A Michael Jackson unplugged televison special.Kind of like what Elvis did in 1968(that's right toddlers, WAY back in the day).Michael could reach millions of people without actually touring.I don't think Michael is physically up for performing live night after night.

I don't think Prince is more popular than MJ... Even today...
Or if you prefer, Prince is more loved today because of what MJ is became...

But something that i would never imagine is that MJ would become WHITE... And falling off THAT bad....

MJ is the biggest FALL oFF of all time....

20 years ago,he was the coolest man on earth, the most beloved and known, selling the biggest albumof all time and now he's the most horrid celebrity, everybody hate him and make joke on him.... eek eek

Michael should do a hell of a lot to gain some popularity again (i am not speaking about his over-obsessive fans):
- He should do numerous sessions of plastic surgery to get his 'regular' black face back
- He should learn that grown men sleeping with kids are ALWAYS suspicious
- He should show some sincerity and humblety

I know, these remarks sound sarcastic and are unreachable, but based on the reports and my intuition i really think Michaels world went wrong.... For him, as an individual, i feel sorry his life turned out this way...
On the other hand it shows all the shortcomings of the 'american dream': being rich and popular doesnt automaticly bring you joy in life, some peeps get overwhelmed by it, I mean, owning so much money and fans, but at the same time not grown up: a confused, alienated fellow taking advantage of children.... if thats what the 'american dream' is about, i go for my subtle pleasures and joys

Yeah, I know so many people that remeber how happy he looked during Thriller and Bad, and how upset I get when I see live videos of "Another Part of Me" where he's SINGING LIVE and lookds great with a live band from the Bad tour, and I just want to scream:

Nope. Even what Michael has gone through, he will always be more popular than Prince and Madonna. People still play his music everyday. People get excited when someone starts to dance like MJ. There are people that don't even kno who Prince is...and a lot of people who didn't buy his ablums. 1.1 million ablums of musiciology compared to 6 million copies of Number Ones sold. The numbers of ablums sold speak for itself.

U need to get over what Michael did to his face. Maybe they can rebuild his nose but the fact that he has a skin disorder(even though some close minded people refuse to believe that) can't change. I'm mad at what he did to his face but there is nothing we can do about it. It's not our problem, it's Michaels.

Michael will always sell albums but after this trial there will be a serious downturn in the fanbase. Madonna and Prince may have had their fair share of media backlash but the situation MJ is in right now will never leave him.

I think he may be found innocent but the smears left on people's opinions of him will change.

I loved MJ as a kid but now I rarely listen to his music because of the distaste I feel for his lifestyle. Maybe that is wrong but I doubt that many others feel differently to me.

The reason why I asked if anyone liked or listened to the Who was because one of the guys in the group is a convicted child sex offender. People on here are saying that they can't listen to Michael's music because of the allegations but they havent even been proven yet. Yet people on here still listen to the Who'smusic which one of the guys is a sick pervert.

Pete Townshend is not a convicted child sex offender. He was found to have used his credit card details accessing a child pornography site as part of Operation Ore here in the UK. He claimed to be researching for some work he did for a charity trying to stamp it out. He was found to be in possession of no other child pornography and as a result the charges were dropped.

And I think you will find that The Who are no longer producing music.

Believe what you want. Pete Townshend was vilified by the media in the UK. He suffered horribly for what he did, whether that was a harmless mistake or something more sinister.

Either way, you can't compare the two.

I know u might be a fan of the who but I do not believe that guy is innocent at all. It really is a double standard. No one even knows about this pervert yet everyone in the media and a lot of people hav already proclaimed Michael Jackson guilty. People say that they can't listen to Michael Jackson because of the allegations yet people still listen to the who with that pervert.

Firstly, I am not a fan of The Who.

The case was very well publicised here. The Who are a UK band.

Either way, he was acquitted and is therefore innocent in the eyes of the law. Just as MJ will be if he is found not guilty.

The double standard comes from you. You are very quick to defend MJ but even quicker to point the finger at a man who you know very little about.

1. Shed the ego.
2. Stop having kids over at Neverland Ranch.
3. Take a few years off from the spotlight and get therapy.
4. Come out with an album that doesn't have guest stars or attempted big hits.

I don't think MJ can ever really get his career back on track in the U.S. He just looks too repugnant and has done too many crazy things (baby dangling, etc.). But, at least he can keep his core fanbase happy this way and be respected even more musically.

Well, actually, even if he is acquitted I have a feeling that won't be the end of his problems. Nor will it reignite his creativity.

Jeezus, back in the day who could have ever predicted this mess disbelief

This man doesn't even look like the same person on trial. Where did Michael go??? I felt sad watching this years grammy's watching Usher. It was then that I realized just how good MJ was and also, that we will never have that MJ again. We will have to settle for wanna be's like Usher, who JUST DOES NOT HAVE IT!
