Raine said: I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem *may* have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being *crushed* by a *dwarf*. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.
I really think you're just making much too big a thing out of it. : Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I have a friend who is a classical musician, and I was like, "You've got to see this!" And I was telling all the jokes and going on and on about it.
So he came back later and said, "I watched that movie and I don't get it." It was like...oops, guess we're not connect on this one. Can you imagine?

I have a similar problem, heartbeat: I know HOW FUNNY Spinal Tap is, but I hestitate to show some of my friends this movie, because a lot of the humor is "subtle" & of course, the more you know about rock n roll - at least some "basics" - the more you can appreciate this movie. what I do is tell them that it's kind of like a LONG "Saturday Night Live" skit.. in fact, both Michael McKean ("David St. Hubbins") & Christopher Guest ("Nigel Tufnel") were both on this show at different times. Guest, for a short time during the early 80s with Eddie Murphy & Joe Piscopo & Julia Louis-Dreyfus.. & McKean during the mid- or late 90s, for a season or 2. still, I think most people can appreciate this movie, even if they don't have a "deep background" in rock music - I sure as hell don't have this, & Spinal Tap is 1 of the funnier movies I've ever seen! I'll see you tonight..

I liked their manager in that movie. "Guys, the Boston gig just got cancelled. Don't worry about it though; it's not a big college town."

Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

yeah! that scene in the dressing room where Nigel complains about that "elaborate hors d'Ĺ“uvre tray" was funny too:
"I'm a professional, I'm not going to let it affect me" my favorite scene from the "bonus footage" on the dvd: the band comes back into the dressing room, after having just done a KICK ASS show & they remark how FULL the arena was.. then.. the look on their faces when they learned that the arena was full because most of the crowd got in.. for free! I'll see you tonight..

This has to be one of the funniest scenes of all time. To me, this is right up there with the scene in Stir Crazy when Pryor + Wilder are in the holding cell.
