Ricky and Mike were on the Russ Parr Morning Show today and they talked about how they were sort of jealous of Ralph because everyone knew his name but did not know the rest of theirs. They also mentioned how Ralph went through his Michael Jackson phase. They also talked about how they were not happy with how Puffy promoted their latest album and have since parted ways.

I have no idea why anyone would sign to Puffy's label. He is such an attention whore and only cares about promoting himself.

I knew that their relationship with Bad Boy wouldnt work out. I sure do wish them the best though. It seems that they had more drama in their group than Destiny's Child and the Supremes, combined! I cant wait to see this Behind the Music episode.

Puffy fucked their latest album up both commcerically and critically. "newness" would glow over radio no doubt. ralph on stage does remind me of michael jackson alot.

Bobby is just something else on stage. Very raw. Anyone remember his performce of "on our own"? I think it was from american music awards? He had his 2 dancers behind him and he was so sweaty and off key. But who cares? He was a amazing performer and defiantely the best of the bunch.

Yeah, you're right about Puffy. But I guess since he's a popular producer, he could be in the position to make N.E. relevant again.

I always liked N.E. because they were more than just a boy band. They were the real deal in Soul music.

I am assuming the orger who said 5 star was better was paisley park 4. He crazy about them and used to pretend that he was in their group.

I'll say he's strung out. He looks like he has Parkinson's disease. Either that or he just had his wisdom teeth removed. He's come a long way since Tender Roni.

nod I have to agree w/you 100% about your comment about Puffy. When they first released this first single, I was like what the fuck is this shit and has Puffy lost his damn mind b/c they ain't no damn kids.

As for your comments about Bobby, they are quite accurate. Before Bobby fucked up his life with drugs and Whitney, he really used to give a hell of a show. I am really a whitness to this for sure. I used to be a really hard core NE and Bobby Brown fan and so I know the real deal

Whether some people want to admit or not, there last great album besides Heartbreak was Home Again which came out in 1996. I loved the Home Again album b/c unlike the recent Puffy project bullshit it was for the grown and sexy.

I watched the 10pm EDT showing of "Behind The Music" with New Edition..

overall it was rather interesting. as someone else here already noted,
HOW
did they do this show & NOT have ANY interviews with Ronnie DeVoe??

I also think this episode should have been 90 minutes or maybe even 2 hours, like they've done with certain other profiles. New Edition has been through a lot in their 20-plus years in the business, & the individual members in their separate groups did as well, & this could have had more coverage. I would have liked to have seen more on BBD, I was quite into them during their 1st album. in this show, they barely covered the childhoods of the singers- they didn't even mention the birthdates, as they typically do.

I also was blown away by the fact that after the tour, all they got was a check for ONE DOLLAR & EIGHTY-SEVEN CENTS. UNBELIEVABLE. when you buy 1 of their cd's, you pay more SALES TAX than that! then the irony of going out & touring in front of thousands of fans, then the tour bus coming back & dropping them off.. in the projects..
it goes to show that you have to know what you're signing, you have to read the fine print..

then Bobby.. poor, poor Bobby.
he looked like.. I don't know- Flava Flav on valium??
all those years of drugs are clearly taking their toll.
someone on the show last night made the good point that Bobby's "bad boy" image fed into itself, & then when he went solo there was like no 1 or nothing to reel him in..
I really hope he gets his life together- minimally for his daughter's sake- but at this rate I will be shocked if he lives to be 50..

I liked the parts with Johnny Gill, he seems like he'd be cool to hang out with.. I also.. appreciated how several of them "spoke freely" (=cussed) during their interviews.

I was kind of surprised how things worked out with P-diddy. I remember seeing NE on NFL Total Access last fall, they were all wearing NFL jerseys & promoting their latest album & they were kind of giving props to Pp-diddy & talking about how much he was helping them & all that..
but NE was right- I think it was JG who said that Diddy wanted to "expose" NE to a younger, more "hip-hop" audience but JG was saying that this is not really their vibe & so the group & Diddy kind of clashed on that & I suppose that this was part of why their last album didn't do that great..

I also think I heard that NE is on tour now or about to tour or something..
if/when the come through the DC area, I think I might check them out.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

This is what I wonder. I knew the Bad Boy deal wasn’t a good idea but I’m sure it looked good to get out of that 18 year deal. I wasn’t surprised to hear that they weren’t happy with the image Puffy wanted for them. I know Johnny wasn’t feeling that look.

Yeah that was really funny. Bobby is a trip but it's very sad to see him that way. Looks like the drugs have done a lot of damage to him. I never knew he had a stroke either. He's very young for something like that to happen to him.

Yeah it is pretty sad. I notice the mouth thing a while ago and then it seemed like it got better but then it looked crazy again so I wasn't surprised on BTM. He and Whitney were or could have been such a power couple and it's really tragic to see their descent.

I think the show was pretty good but it could have been longer. I was expecting at least 90 minutes. They have over 20 years of history to cover. They barely mentioned BBD or LSG and didnt go into a tremendous amount of detail about their fueds or whathaveyou. They should have had their parents on talking about what fame was like for them when they were younger. New Edition was and continues to be a unique fixture in the pop/r&b music landscape. They've been around a long time and they are still doing it. They deserved 90 minutes, 2 hours to tell their story. Where was Mr Devoe?
