Female producers

Are there any? I can't think of one. Does Linda Perry count? I thought she was just a writer.

There really aren't any working for the major labels. I once mentioned this even at one of my essays.

Missy Elliot is the only one I can think of right now. Bernadette Cooper was good back in the day producing the entire Madame X LP. That was really funky.

What I really meant is a producer who produces exclusively, not an artist who does their own production and some side projects. I.E. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Rodney Jerkins, etc.

well, sadly it looks like thats what wendy is slowly becoming...she has been really busy producing and i wouldnt be suprised if this becomes her primary gig.

I was thinking the same thing. I wish Bernadette Cooper was still producing. She's really good. If I were an artist I would want her to produce some tracks for me. I love the Madame X cd!

The only thing that comes to my mind is that pop stars like Janet and Madonna co-producers on their discs and I honestly belive they do the work (especially Madonna). Not many that produce ohter artists, though.

you had to pick the two worst examples of this ehh? shoot, if Wham didnt ask to exclude these types of artist I think Kate Bush, Bjork or heck Tori Amos are better examples then them two.

Spoke with her at the N.A.B. (National Association of Broadcasters) last week. Great lady!
