Favourite Album starters Hey all
I was just listening to Aladdin Sane today and it hit me how much energy that album starts off with, "Watch that Man" It got me thinking of how many albums kick off with the best or close to it track. So I've decided, High Fidelity Style to list my all time favourite Track Ones, in no particular order: I know this may seem tedious as alot of alnbums purposely start with their best track, if not lead single, but for some albums that songs just defines that album or gives you a feeling of...euphoria, it may just not be the same if it was buried any further in. Bowie - Watch that man Roxy Music - Re-Mak/Re-Model Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road Elvis Costello - No Action Doors - Hello I Love you Dylan - Tangled Up In Blue **gotta be #1 in my book Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues Eno - Needle In the Camels eye Hendrix - Purple Haze Zeppelin IV - Black Dog Zeppelin II - Whole Lotta Love Tom Petty - Free Fallin' Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge over troubled water Stones - Rocks Off Stooges - Search & Destroy Van Halen Runnin' With The Devil Who - Baba O'Reily Neil Young - Cinnamon Girl Prince - Let's Go Crazy & Thunder (the only first track of his that really moves me) Now if TGE had started with Endorphinmachine, forget about it! Hands Down, but P Control takes time to build up momentum, and having the NPG operator kills ALL chance of momentum Any other geeks wanna add their lists?

You left out Like A Rolling Stone, but that's probably just a bit too obvious, isn't it? Anyway, here's my stab at it... The Cutter - Echo and the Bunnymen - See no evil – Television Title Track from Spiritualized’s Ladies and Gentlemen, we are floating in space… Spring Rain – The Go-Between’s Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express Return of the Grievous Angel – Gram Parson Who Loves the Sun – Velvet Underground Mother – John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band Alone Again Or – Love’s Forever Changes Help – Beatles Frenz – The Fall Reuters – Wire’s Pink Flag The Boy With Perpetual Nervousness – The Feelies’ Crazy Rhythms Just Like Honey – Jesus and Mary Chain [Edited 4/25/05 18:19pm]
