I tend to forget about him for like the decade between each project, but once he comes back into my musical world, it's all love.

He got wayyyyy too samey after "listen without....."

"too funky" was a good song though. What album is that from?

George got so serious and po faced about his music or "art".

"George mate, who gives a shit if u write everything, most ur later stuff sounds the same"- quote from someone that I wished told him that.

"freeeak" (is that right) was a class song. Love the lyrics. Even the video was fun.

"i'll be ur sexual freak.....ur 1 fuck fantasy" razz I wanna play it now mad

"freek" was a big hit in uk, hope it was everywhere else (bet it wasn't in usa sad )

until i saw him perform at NetAid*, I didn't realise two things:

(1) he's actually quite a fine dancer; and

(2) his head is disproportionately big / the rest of his body is disproportionately small.

* the benefit gig at Wembley Stadium a few years ago which was a total flop in terms of money / awareness raised, but a brilliant concert.

it for once showed georgre had a sense of humour. Same with the song. I wished they'd show it more. I still own the single.

"come on kids don't be scared, it's a tits and ass world u gotta be prepared". Something like that. Great line anyway.

What was the deal with NetAid? Never heard much about at the time. Is that performance available cause I heard something about he wasn't happy with his performance so it wasn't shown or something like that?

It was a great gig.

Yeah, George Michael was really pissed off. His microphone wasn't working (no other artist had this problem that I can remember), and when he got another one from offstage, that one wasn't working either. He looked SO angry. Some technician was going to get a serious bollocking that evening.

but what part of his set he did do (and which was audible), was really good, & very slick.

don't think the NetAid concert has ever been released. Though the whole thing was broadcast on Radio 2 at the time in the UK (I arranged for it to be taped), and there were some bits and pieces on the TV at the same time too.

the line-up was pretty good though.

David Bowie
George Michael
Robbie Williams
Bush
Bryan Adams
The Coors
Catatonia
The Stereophonics

maybe some others; can't remember. smile

I love George!! I was never a big fan of Wham, but when GM went solo, I was hooked. I love ALL of his work. I regret that I've never seen him in concert and there's a very good chance I never will seeing as he doesn't put himself out there too often, but he is and always will be one of my favourite artists.

I too love ALL of his work, and I was hoping for a concert tour when PATIENCE was released, but instead he retires. disbelief My only hope of seeing GM live is to stalk him!

I give George props as a songwriter, musician & singer. like Prince, I think he did his best work in the 80, including a lot of what he did with WHAM!.

my favorite GM song has always been & will always be Father Figure,
VERY CLOSELY followed by Everything She Wants & Freedom '90.

I fully expect George to be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame within the 1st 3 years of eligibility..
really, he should get in on his 1st year.
I'll see you tonight..

yeah, I am very certain George will get into the R&R HoF.

as for the Hollywood Walk of Fame.. I wonder if either will get that. not that I think they shouldn't, but neither is really known for their acting chops.

that said, Prince probably should have gotten 1 for "Purple Rain" alone,
but I've never seen George ACT in a film??
has he even done a bit part in a tv show??
an informercial??

I'm surprised that George has never had the "acting bug" or tried to do something.. I'm sure he'd be at least DECENT in a film, if he had the right role.

hell, if Andrew can race cars, why can't George act in a movie???
I'll see you tonight..

Just a single...can be found on his greatest...I think it was meant for Red Hot and Dance.

Love the guy...always have. He has a great voice and is one of the best male vocalist of our time. His music still goes widely unnoticed, even though it's really good. I actually think Patience was one of the better album of last year...even better than Prince's. I think it's one of his best.

He needs another video comp to come out...I have yet to experience anything since Outside in terms of videos.

Anyone can really get a star. All they have to do is have their management co. or Fanbase pay for one and submit in an application to the folks that issue them. Ryan Seahag just got one for his contribution to radio media. It is rumored that Prince was offeered one when he was the Symbol and turned it down because it said Prince.

He's one of my all time favourites.
Sure,I love what he did in the 80's
but IMO 'Older"is his best 2 date!
The first months I was very diisapointed by this album
but after a few months I started 2 listen 2 it again
and then it really got 2 me.
His MTV Unplugged was the best I've ever seen,
such a great vibe,great voice.

thumbs up! I LOVE HIM! I have been in love with George since the days of Wham! (I even wore gold hoops in my ears as a tribute to him...I was in 3rd grade, so don't judge! biggrin) Listen Without Prejudice is my fav. GM album and one of my all around favs. Heal the Pain is one of my all time favorite songs. The lyrics are so great.
EDIT: oh yeah and Kissing a Fool. Love that song.

He doesn't get enough props in the US.
[Edited 4/27/05 10:33am]
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

The Red Hot + Dance compilation. There are beautiful songs on Older that never get any credit. The existence of George Michael gives me hope that there will be another successful gay artist out of the closet that I can drool over. Consider the alternatives - Boy George, Elton John, RuPaul...
