I keep going back to Faith and SS. Haven't even touched Porn yet. I'm kinda afraid of that album.

I'm kinda afraid of that album. afraid?!? i guess it is a pretty dark album. i like it a lot, but i'll admit it - i don't play it very much, mainly because the CD i have of it is pretty murky sounding and it's difficult listening for me...which makes me very excited to hear the reissue. but i'm kinda digging on getting to know the other two albums, neither of which i've heard before, before taking in something that i have more history with. plus, these reissues are opening up my interest in all the other cure albums and comps and vids that i own. love that!

That's how I've been listening...in bed at night, with all the lights out just before sleep. And I've listened to it plenty before, but I can't go back to it very often, which is strange cuz I really like most of the freakier songs, i.e. "100 Years", "Pornography", "A Short Term Effect", etc. And I love that album performed live on the Trilogy DVD. Just something about all of it taken together freaks me the fuck out. I definitely have to be in the right state of mind for it.

Yeah, a bit. I love love LOVE the album and all things Cure, but it's not one I can put on at any time like "Disintegration". It's like having a hit of acid in your hand, knowing you're gonna have the worst trip ever and still taking it anyway. I'm definitely not pussy when it comes to extreme music. Most of their more hardcore songs I love. Most of Pornography I love. I just have to be prepared. Same with Joy Division's Closer or Tricky's Angels with Dirty Faces. They're so harrowing, menacing and utterly unhealthy that I have to be feeling a bit sicko myself to fully appreciate them.

You know what the funny thing is, I started a thread a couple of months ago about imagining if the Cure and Prince toured together back in the 80's. I think they do have similarities, but they're still very much different. I mean, the Cure was always getting high and Prince was (and still is) completely against it. And some bozo had the nerve to say that The Cure is too white and Prince is too black. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I think Prince wants us to believe he was squeaky clean, but I don't buy it. I just think Robert's not afraid to talk about it.

Some great discussion about what wasn't included and what should/shouldn't be released on future reissues.
