Lady T

On a earlier thread... someone brought up a Teena Marie v.s. Mariah Carey subject. To me, it was no contest because Mariah simply didn't have the full package: Singing, Songwriting, Producing, Arranging, and Musicianship that Teena has. It got me wondering, what female singer out there can really compete with Lady T. point for point with the mentioned talents. Any ideas out there people?

I love Teena because she can throwdown hard when she wants to and not just sing ballads all the time. It's also hard for me to think of another female that can compete with Teena because most of my favorite artists and groups are male groups and most of the female singers that I really like are a product of male producers that gave them a hard funky edge that could compete with the male groups that were throwingdown hard.

I guess I would chose Klymaxx. Not to compete with Teena vocal wise but talent wise. These girls could write, produce, and play all their instruments and they also were hard and funky and didn't strictly sing ballads and midtempo.

Patrice Rushen is extremely talented too.She even appears on a Teena Marie song---"Yes,Indeed"---from the 'It Must Be Magic' album.

Speaking of Klymaxx:

http://www.klymaxx.com/

Just so you know, there are currently 2 different bands with the "Klymaxx" trademark. But the controversy behind this is another story/thread in itself.

Yeah, one of the members was touring with a whole new set of girls using the name Klymaxx. I can see one or two replacements in any group but Klymaxx simply ain't Klymaxx without Bernadette Cooper.

Patrice is indeed great, and Yes indeed is a fantastic song, although Patrice doesn't play as many instruments as Teena, (nor the vocal ability, especially using Y.I. as an example!) Also... I don't think it's fair to use a whole group of girls in Klymaxx to compete with one little ol' Lady T.

Right now, Bernadette is in the band with the other 3 original members + other backing musicans.

And unless Robyn comes out of M.I.A. & the beef between Cheryl & Bernadette is finally settle, their is no real Klymaxx reunion.

Did anyone see when Halle Berry did Saturday Night Live and they did a Klymaxx skit? Oh, it was amazing. The clothes and wigs were so authentically 1985.
