Aphex Twin 'Analord' Has any Aphex fans out there heard anything from this series yet? i'm intriqued but not enough to drop $70.00 on ONE 12 inch. Supposedly, there's gonna be 10 installments to this release. it's Aphex! and i know this is a collector's dream, but i don't think my love is that deep to blindly drop $$$ on something that may be in the be end another of Aphex's practical jokes. i've read mixed views about the releases so far, i was just wondering if anyone here has heard any of this yet.
i got a chuckle out of this: People wondered what James was up to after the 2001 release Drukqs, and there was some speculation that it was a contract fulfillment a la Prince's The Vault/Old Friends 4 Sale. It wasn't that Drukqs was bad, exactly, just that it seemed uninterested in breaking new ground, which was unusual considering the bold strokes to which the Aphex Twin audience had grown accustomed. James still did Aphex Twin better than anyone, but after his prolific 90s, that was no longer enough. Now, four quiet years later, he returns with a new series of 12-inches, dusting off his old Analogue Bubblebath handle AFX in honor of the vintage synths used to craft the Analord material. The records will be issued in 10 volumes, to be housed in a binder sold with the set.

i have a few aphex twin CDs in my collection, and i've had a few that i sold back.
listening to some bleeps and bloops and screechy noises ain't worth $80 to me, sorry, no way. i'll pay 5.99 for a used copy of that one album with him in the bikini, though.

Yeah, he does tend to use the more chaotic stuff as filler, but he is also capable of making some of the most beautiful music i've heard. believe it or not, i'm interested in this collection because i believe he's actually going to put his heart into this one or it could just be that i'm a geek like that.

You could probably pick up a decent second-hand vacuum cleaner for that kind of money. Leave it running for thirty-five minutes - the effect is about the same.
Actually I like the Aphex Twin albums I own - but I don't like them that much.

that's why i would love a preview, because i would pay $80 for sounds that i could hear for free at any sheet metal shop.

All I know is
"Come to daddy, come to daddy" and nothing has come close to being as cool since

there's been a lot of fans upset with Richard's output for a longtime. but his white labels are legendary. i wish i could get my hands on some of those!
