"Pretty clear" why? Are you a physician? Funny how every allegation is true in this society.

Don't you just HATE that crap? Someone can allege anything negative about a person and others will just jump on it for no other reason than that it's been SAID! I am intelligent enough to know that some things are true and some are not (and without proof, will often give the benefit of doubt). I just cannot figure out what the thought process is of those who never look at positive possibilities!

actually, i quoted the doctor i heard on the radio, and i found this study on it as well. that's 2 sources that i've cited. can you provide evidence, besides one anecdotal case of your firned, that a person's personality or psychological state ISN'T affected by RSD?
[Edited 4/22/05 20:16pm]

First of Tessa, the antedotal website I provided was given because it provide multiple accounts peoples day to day life struggle with RSD ( if you had time to read it you have realized that). Since, its evident that you are not well versed on this condition b/c all you have to go by is media and not first hand accounts, I am going to refer to some of the true experts in the field of RSD and that would be Dr Hooshmand and Cleveland Cleveland Pain Clinic. Hopefully, you will completely read through these website and learn something about the true nature and the complexities of this disorder and find that its much more complex than what some few sources you have found have eluded too.

why would i do that?

1) i don't click links.
2) i don't care enough. you win.

now can someone start some decent threads so i don't have to fill my org time with ones like this? sad

I do have some sympathy for her.She was an acclaimed choreographer at one stage. It's obvious her injuries were real serious, I mean even her speech seems a bit slurred to me.

Trust me, I have a friend who has full blown RSD in his leg. If she has it, she would be in she much damn pain. She would have more going on with her than just slurred speech wrong with her. My friend has had to undergo treatments for nerver pain in his leg, suffers from seizures and is unable to work.

Well I don't really care what she calls it, you only have to look at the her move to know she isn't what she once was. Sure there's someone worse off but there always is, I feel sorry for your friend too.

Abdul says odd behavior not drug-related

Thu Apr 21, 6:42 AM ET Entertainment - USATODAY.com

By César G. Soriano, USA TODAY

American Idol judge Paula Abdul, responding to questions about her erratic behavior on the hit Fox talent show, says she is suffering from a rare neurological disorder and does not have a drug problem.

"Drugs? I'm not addicted to pills of any kind," Abdul says in the new issue of People magazine (on newsstands Friday).

Abdul, 42, says she has been battling chronic pain that began after a cheerleading accident at age 17 left here with an injured disc in her neck.

The pain got worse after "a couple of car accidents" in the 1980s and a plane crash in 1992, which led to seizures, bulimia and depression, she says. In search of relief, Abdul had 12 operations and used medications she says left her so "loopy" that she chose to live with the pain.

The turning point came last summer, she says, when she began taking Enbrel, an anti-inflammatory drug normally used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

A spokeswoman for the drug says it does not have psychological side effects.

In November, Abdul says, she was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (aka Complex Regional Pain syndrome), a chronic neurological disorder that causes severe, debilitating pain. It affects 500,000 to 1 million Americans and is more prevalent in women, according to the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association.

The disease is treatable and usually involves physical and sometimes psychological therapy, says Norman Harden, director of the Center for Pain Studies at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. "People can do well and get on with their lives."

Abdul says she kept her condition secret from her fellow Idol judges but decided to go public after reading message boards about her behavior on and off the set.

"Between getting up and dancing at the drop of a hat, and her refusal to let Simon (Cowell) finish a sentence ... she's become both distracting and annoying," says Idol fan Steve Walker of Memphis.

Abdul says she is now pain-free, and her happy-go-lucky demeanor is proof of how good she feels.

"If people only knew what I've gone through with pain and pills. I'm dancing for joy at the fact that not even a year ago I was in so much pain I could barely get up," she tells People.

Last month, she was sentenced to two years' probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count of hit-and-run driving.

Idol producers and her castmates declined to comment on Wednesday.

"It was getting ugly with the lies people were saying," Abdul tells Entertainment Tonight in an interview airing today and Friday. "It was time to set the record straight. I want America to know that I have never been addicted to anything, no chemical dependency, nothing for recreational purposes."

I truly believe that Paula Abdul is full of bullshit. I don't feel that its right that she use a serious condition as an excuse for her erratic irrational behavior on AI on the roadwayas.

After doing some research of my own on the net, I found out the RSD is some seriuos shit. When you get diagnosed with RSD, there is no comming back from that b/c it effects your body simular to Cancer and MS and the patient will end up taking similar medications as Cancer and MS patients.

Check out this website for real accounts of how a real person with RSD lives from day to day. Trust me, it's far from glamorous as Paula Abduls lying ass
.

After you check out this website, you see what I mean. Her ass needs to be pimp2 slapped for lying like that.

I don't think it's an excuse and I don't think she's using it as an excuse....what is she using it as? A distraction! I believe this is true (she's possibly exagratting) but the only reason she came out with it was becuase of her recent unrelated accident. I feel bad for her condition but I think it's sad that's she's using it like this.
