I'ld probably just burn a cd with songs I want her to play...
Some Rufus Wainwright (Vibrate), some Sam Beam (Freedom Hangs Like Heaven), a bit of Jaques Brel (anything), a tat of Mahalia (Walk Over God's Heaven) and maybe a bit of Katie (L'Amour Looks Something Like You, maybe, or And Dream Of Sheep).

mushy

Just one month...

I hope you love it and I hope she plays "Little Amsterdam", "Flying Dutchman" and "Not the Red Baron" just for y'all. biggrin

Even though that would make more sense in France or Germany, I would loooove to hear that one. It's one of my faves.

The reason I mentioned it is cuz at the beginning she says, "What language? No, Dutch!"

I know, I realised when I just put it on cuz we are talking about it...I went "Aaaah that is why Gangsta put that in the Dutch top three".

She is talking about the airplane banter that plays in the background. They were picking up a KLM flight, I guess. And she would know Dutch because of her own Riot Poof, which of course is an English translation of the Dutch term "rel nicht".

KLM = Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij= a previous Dutch (now French) air carrier (?); the banter you hear in the background was somehow picked up by some studio equipment, but Tori decided to keep it. She and someone in the background are discussing what the language is these people are using.

Riot Poof= Rel Nicht. It's a Dutch term for Glam Queens, acting loud and in your face. Wasn't it a certain van Limbeek, who was her sound engineer and then came out of the closet while they were working together?

Maybe if you ever get to this side of the ocean I will have found that videotape of an interview she conducted in an Amsterdam pianostore, where she sat playing, behind the window.

I had just purchased Little Earthquakes, the same day it was released and still had to go to Amsterdam often because I was doing catwalkshows for my old schoolmates.

I just happened to walk past and saw her sitting there, camera on her. During the interview you can see a small glimpse of me, a very thin boy ogling at her through the window. She smiled at me a few times, then waved. That's not oncam though.

Man, I'm actually glad I missed that tour. With the exception of Hey Jupiter and The Beekeeper, that set list blows.

Holy crap, you are committed! Hope to see ya on some of those dates. If she plays Toronto, would you go there too? It's only about 2 and a half hours from where I live and really easy to get to. It's a great place to see a show too. If time and money allow, I'm hoping to make it to Detroit, Chicago, Indiana and Ohio (if she does them) and Toronto. Maybe more. I'd say of any artist in the past 2 years, Tori has my heart. I honestly can't get enough of her right now.

Hey, you get that iTunes EP she put out?

I got it from Turbid Blue I believe. They're official solo piano versions of "Sleeps With Butterflies", "Orange Knickers", "Seaside" and "Crazy". I really like it! I said right from the get go that I wish she had singles still and I wish she had some solo piano versions as b-sides. Again, I get my wish! Oh, and if you decide to make the Toronto trip, if she plays there, you're more than welcome to crash at my place going to and from. We could even drive together if it works out that way. biggrin

I love that song too. Lots. And if you do meet her, mention that you'd like to hear it. You're more likely to get it that way. wink

i'm listening to her version of "can't get you out of my head" and, big surprise, i'm very impressed! it just sounds so different (duh, obviously) but in an urgent kind of way. it just sounds so much more - for lack of a better word - deep.

damn, this bitch pumps my pussy!
