Did anyone catch Tori on Tavis last night? I fell asleep.
I need the play by play! | |

Oh, I didn't mean that. Just that she can carry the show with just voice and piano. No fancy lighting, no gimmicks, nothin'. Oh, I know. That was just my own idea. Or maybe one instrumental-only piece would be cool.

I just traded a couple of old CDs I NEVER listened to anymore for a little cash and a couple of CDs, one of it being Little Earthquakes. Good one? Like what I heard so far!
Which other ones are recommendable?

I need the play by play! an ok interview, no performance. finally, someone spent time talking to tori! too bad it had to be tavis smiley. i'm sorry, i know he has a loyal following here, but i think tavis is a pitiful journalist. his questions are redundant and amatuer at best and throughout the whole interview he looked lost (which, in his defense, is easy to understand considering whom he was speaking with). i also just don't like the way he speaks, there's too much grandiloquence for me. the spoke about "the beekeeper" and her book; being a mother on tour and taking her child every with her (which i have my own personal opinions about, by the way). ike i said, it was an ok interview. i honestly could have missed it and not worried too much.

Which other ones are recommendable? i say start with "little eartquakes" and take it chronologically from there. check out "under the pink" and then, if you like that, listen to "boys for pele." if you still like what you're hearing, skip up to her recent disc, "the beekeeper" and then go back to "from the choirgirl hotel" (her disc after "...pele" and continue the chronological line from there. i think "the beekeeper" is so much like "boys for pele" that they could be vol. 1 and vol. 2. glad to see you're enjoying "little earthquakes" too!

Just throw him in the bunch with Larry King and Charlie Rose. They don't have a clue. I've always thought they should just start their shows asking, "Who are you and what do you do?"

Thanx Sassy. I like Tavis Smiley more as a personality than a journalist. He usually asks questions that other journalists dont. He isnt the greatest interviewer by any means though. Ive met him in person and hes a great guy.

tori is in the next Q magazine. she lists 20 songs (by women) that male singers should cover (sort of a twist on her covers album, which consisted of songs that had originally been recorded by men). this is what she said about our man prince:
16. Three Babies - Sinead O'Connor I've miscarried and it's a terrible experience. Because it's not happening inside the man it's almost as if he doesn't have jurisdiction but it does affect men. Prince could sing this and it would break your heart.

It'd be worth the price just for the bonus EP alone.

by the way, i'm reading a book about kabbalah called "god is a verb." its a pretty interesting book so far (i'm only on page 50 or something like that) but i was shocked at how many similarities there are in the kabbalist beliefs and tori amos's lyrics - especially the new cd! i don't know that tori subscribes to any one religious belief but upon reading this book it is clear that she, too, has been reading up on kabbalah. its funny...i'll be reading a few pages and then something will come up and i'm all like "huh...tori sings about that on such and such..." - in a million years i never would have thought of the connection.

I hope Tori makes it back to the midwest real soon. She should have done more than 1 show per major city during the 1st leg.

Jones Beach is an outdoor ampitheater so it shouldn't sell out as fast. I've seen Tori there twice already. http://www.tommyhilfigerj.../main.html

I got tix for Tori at Jones Beach this morning. They were easy to get because Jones Beach is so much bigger than Hammerstein. I searched on Ticketmaster.com again almost an hour after I bought my tix and was offered virtually identical seats. Of course orchestra was all locked up, but the stadium and mezzanine seats are readily available.
