MrTation said: This song has had an interesting history and has caused more than a few disputes amongst the band members over the years....
It was recorded in 1976 for the "Rumours" lp ... but, much to Nicks' disappointment, was left off the album due to time limitations. Nicks had arranged for her mother to recieve publishing royalties for the song. It was then released as the B-side to "Go Your Own Way" and quickly forgotten. Many years later , around 1990, Nicks intended to place the song on her solo "Greatest Hits" album that Modern Records was preparing , only to be told by Fleetwood that it wouldn't be possible. This angered Nicks who reportedly claimed "This song wasn't good enough then, and you won't even let me have it back now?". This event, coupled with Nicks' disgust at Fleetwood for revealing their affair in his autobio, caused Nicks to leave the group in the early 90's. The song then appeared on the 1992 FM Boxset and actually got play on the radio, in spite of being a 15 year old song. Then in 1997 , ironically , when the reunited group performed the song for "The Dance", the new live version charted as a single. I guess Nicks had the last laugh Wow,that's some interesting info! great thread- interesting & informative!
there are quite a few Fleetwood Mac songs that I like, my 2 favorite involving Stevie Nicks are Silver Springs & Stand Back. Silver Springs is at the same time, quiet & powerful. I remember their performance of that song in their "reunion concert".. Stevie was amazing, she sings with a passion that few others can express. but I thought she wrote this song about her off-&-on relationship with Lindsay.. as for Stand Back, I had known some of the story behind this song. I love the synth part - the underlying part does give the song a certain (rambling) energy. I tried "singing" this song "over" Little Red Corvette.. I think the verse parts are similar, but the chorus parts don't really "fit", in my opinion. I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS.. | |
