I feel very sorry for you then, if every moron's ignorant racial slur gets under your skin. It's not something a right-thinking person should express (her comment), but you're in for a very sad, bitter, disappointed life if you put stock in or the energy into being offended by the ridiculous, ignorant things that trash like Paris Hilton say.

Sure, I find the word offensive too. But to get riled up by it because some bimbo who's only famous for a sex tape and short skirts and getting drunk said it? I would hope people would do better than that, than to get incensed when morons say moronic things. Stupid is as stupid does. What else would you expect from this bim? Don't waste your outrage on her. Her 15 minutes will be up in due course.

Don't feel sorry for me. Feel sorry at the fact you feel it's ok for anyone to say any derogatory thing they want simply because you may think they don't have anything important to say and they're not living their life up to your standards. Who has to say it in order for you to get riled up? The leader of the United Nations? The Prime Minister of Canada? Alex Trebek? How important do they have to be?

Paris was famous, first, for being an heiress. This is nothing new. All heirs/heiresses are automatically famous. Look at the Vanderbilts, Astors, Carnegies, Morgans, Dukes, and the Hearsts. They're famous for having tons of money and A LOT of people want to live like them if not be them. Many young people care who Paris is and follow where she hangs out, what she says, and what she wears. If she's going to pimp her wealth, which she has done, then she has a responsibility, period.

I've been called a nigger to my face and I don't let any muthafucka say that shit to me or around me. I let it be known and so do my friends regardless of whether I think they're a bimbo or moron. It's unacceptable

If you find the word offensive, but don't say anything when it's said, then you pretty much said the word yourself
[Edited 4/22/05 19:59pm]

Thank you for telling the truth also Janfriend.

CORRECTION: The only person that Paris ever gave (and still give) a rat's ass about is herself.

Not only does Paris could care less about people of color, but she never ready have any respect for poor people (of any skin-color). Remember, she's so rich that she never understood the purpose of Wal-Mart!!!

nod Shiit, the word Wal-Mart would never ever cross Paris lips b/c she is rich. Besides, Paris is used to shopping a posh boutiques and places like Barney's Of NY,Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Sax 5th Avenue anyway. Furthermore, while being caucasian and white, she feels it gives her the right of way to look down on people who are Non-White and Nicole Ritche was like fuck this shallow racist bitch.

Without stereotyping, it make me wonder if all rich people in general are a little racist once in a while.

Beside the Hiltons, what about the Bushes, the Clintons, the Jobs, the Kennedys, the Gates, etc.?

Wow.

Racism is "irrelevant"
unless it's being expressed by someone you, Tessa, have a personal liking for?

It's been a while since I've heard something so ignorant. This takes the cake.

I'm not getting the sarcastic context of your post, but I will say that I care whenever a non-black person calls a black person a dirty nigger, especially if their best friend is black. It's sad that you don't. Maybe you go around calling people dirty niggers. I don't know shrug

Eh...Nicole Ritchie is caucasian to my knowledge. She is adopted. Have I missed something? Anyway, it doesn't matter much because that kind of remark would insult her father big-time, and I wouldn't want to work/be friends with someone like that. I hope kids would hear about this kind of stuff so they'd see what a waste Paris is.

What's really ironic about Ms. Hilton is that she is a self-absorbed elitist snob who acts like white trailer trash. She only became famous because of her lineage and her outrageous behavior, yet the mainstream media confuses this as some type of talent. She comes across as a dumb bimbo, but she's not really that stupid. However, because she doesn't seem to have any thoughts about anything except herself, her insularity makes her look like a complete idiot.

I watched the early episodes of her TV show for the train wreck value, and while it was stupefyingly entertaining at first, it became old really quick. Her porn video is by far the highlight of her celebrity, which just goes to show how sad her celebrity really is.

As for the elite American families, most of them are okay, but a lot of them are very racially prejudiced, if not racist. It's mostly because their only life experience with people of other races are in menial or subservient work roles such as a maid, butler, gardener, poolboy, etc. A lot of the people from the more privileged families use their money to hide their bigotry. In fact, the Bush family is one of the most racist families in America. (Read Kitty Kelley's biography on the Bush family.) One of the more insidous traits of the wealthy country club bigots is to use rednecks and bible thumpers to further their own prejudices and cause friction among other races, gays, and women while claiming plausible denial over those tactics. Interestingly enough, the wealthy bigoted elite disdain rednecks and bible thumpers as much as those same rednecks resent the minority groups.

As for Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Warren Buffett, they all came from more humble middle class origins and are not and have not been racially prejudiced. Bill Clinton came from a poor family and had a lot of African-American friends while growing up. As for the Kennedys, I think the original patriarch of that family (Joseph Kennedy) was originally quite prejudiced, since he came from an Irish family, and most Irish families during his time were quite racist. However, after the Great Depression and World War II, the family's view of African Americans began to change quite dramatically, and during the late 1950's, they reached out emphatically to Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement. They been some of the most persistent supporters of minority people since then.

Paris Hilton yearning for simpler life

NEW YORK (AP) — For someone with a wilder-than-wild party girl history and a faker-than-fake reality TV show, Paris Hilton is surprisingly real. In person, what you see — glammed up, glammed down, hair extensions in, hair extensions out — is what you get.

" I've been going out since I was 16. I'm sort of over it now," Hilton says of her withdrawal from the club scene.
Warner Bros.

She doesn't hide her silly spoils, like her dog's designer carrying case, and has perfected her paparazzi pout. The result? Ever-increasing fame for the omnipresent hotel heiress turned sex tape star and reality TV supernova.

Now Hilton, 24, is moving into acting. In House of Wax, opening Friday, Hilton does horror. She'll later surface in National Lampoon's Pledge This! and Bottom's Up. But when it comes to her tabloid-tracked personal life, Hilton insists she's become more interested in playing housewife than club hopper.

Other than the husband, two kids and white picket fence, Hilton seemingly has it all. And it's all about Paris: a self-titled fragrance, self-titled nightclub chain, self-titled jewelry line. She's also working on a self-titled boutique hotel chain, as-yet-untitled makeup and clothing lines and a more-than-likely mild CD.

During a recent interview, Hilton's trendy SoHo hotel room had the frenzied atmosphere of a children's play area. A plate with scrambled egg remnants lingered on an end table. Makeup bags doubled as a throw pillows on the couch. Bottles of vitamins fought for space on a cluttered coffee table. Two smiley publicists leered from the bedroom while a makeup artist prepared his palette and a hairdresser prodded the top of Hilton's head, installing her latest set of hair extensions.

With her infamous Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, half-awake in her lap, Hilton rested in the eye of the storm, unfazed by a barrage of silly questions and the yanking of her new locks. Other than refusing to utter Backstreet Boy and ex-beau Nick Carter's name, Hilton purred freely about her sex tape, her falling out with Simple Life cohort Nicole Richie, her naughty House of Wax scenes and her death. Her most shocking revelation: Hilton wants a simpler life.

AP: So how would you describe your occupation?

Hilton: I don't know. I'm an actress, a brand, a businesswoman. I'm all kinds of stuff.

AP: If you had to pick just one...

Hilton: An actress.

AP: So all of this — the partying, the modeling, the reality show — was just your journey to an acting career?

Hilton: Yeah, I guess.

AP: Do you read what's written about you? Do you pick up the tabloids?

Hilton: I don't read any of it. I just look at the pictures to see what I was wearing last week and if it was cute.
lol

AP: Do you read blogs?

Hilton: What's that? lol lol

AP: Um, they're these things on the Internet where people write about news and stuff.

Hilton: No, I don't really read anything on the Internet except my AOL mail. I don't like people who sit on computers all day long and write about people they don't know anything about.

AP: Paris, you just described my job.

(Her publicist, Rob Shuter, laughs.)

AP: What did you want to be when you were a little girl?

Hilton: A veterinarian, but then I realized I could just buy a bunch of animals.

AP: So let's talk about the movie. I'm sure you've had a gazillion scripts on your doorstep. Why do "House of Wax"?

Hilton: It's a fun summer movie about teenagers. When I got the script, I went out and got the original and thought it was creepy and fun. And because of Joel Silver. I've known Joel since I was little so I was very excited when he asked me to be in one of his movies. He's a Hollywood legend.

AP: Tell me about your character, Paige.

Hilton: She's very sexy. She's a small town girl.

AP: You do a lot of kissing in this movie. What was that like?

Hilton: It was hard because I've never done anything like that before. My boyfriend — not my boyfriend now (shipping heir Paris Lastis) — got really jealous about it, but then he realized it's just a movie.

AP: Which boyfriend?

Hilton: I don't even want to say his name.

AP: In the beginning of the film, a few scenes feature you being taped with a camcorder. Whose idea was that?

Hilton: That was in the script. I just went along with it. I wanted to show people I can make fun of myself and not take anything too seriously.

AP: How long did it take you to come to that point?

Hilton: I don't know. Over this past year.

AP: What's your favorite horror movie?

Hilton: I like a lot of the old, creepy classics like the Freddy Kruger movies and The Shining. Jack Nicholson is really scary.

AP: Who do you want to be your new Simple Life co-star?

Hilton: I want it to be Kim (Stewart, daughter of rocker Rod), but it could be anybody. I don't know.

AP: Have you spoken to Nicole following the big breakup?

Hilton: No, we haven't spoke in a while. I've been very busy with my boyfriend and the movie and everything. She's been very busy. She's engaged
.

AP: So what could you possibly do on Simple Life 4?

Hilton: Go to Maui.

AP: Why?

Hilton: They want to sex it up, have us more in swimsuits and stuff.

AP: But what would you do?

Hilton: I don't know. We could work as lifeguards or work in a hotel or something.

AP: Baywatch tried that and it didn't work.

Hilton: Tried what?

AP: They went from the United States to Hawaii, which I guess is technically the United States. Anyway, it didn't work.

Hilton: (Silence.)

AP: So are you really a ditz?

Hilton: That's just for the show.
lol

AP: Is the Simple Life scripted?

Hilton: Not really. That's what we're trying to do to freshen it up. I mean, not like the first season.

AP: What's hot right now in entertainment? What TV shows do you watch? What music are you listening to?

Hilton: I only watch The Simple Life. I don't have time to watch anything else. I like 50 Cent, Maroon 5, Britney Spears.

AP: What do you think of Britney settling down and getting pregnant?

Hilton: I love it. She's been talking about wanting to settle down and get married and have kids for a while. I think it's good. (She and Kevin Federline) are really cute together.

AP: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hilton: I don't know. Married to my boyfriend with two kids and a house. Still acting and doing stuff.

AP: What kind of wife would you be?

Hilton: A good one. I'd cook and clean.

AP: What would your children's names be?

Hilton: Paris and London.

AP: Paris for a girl? London for a boy?

Hilton: Yeah.

AP: Why are you so popular?

Hilton: I don't know, because of who I am. I'm not like anybody else. I'm like an American princess.

AP: What would you be like if you were — I don't know — Paris Smith?

Hilton: I'd be the same. Maybe I'd be a veterinarian.

AP: In your career, what are you most afraid of happening?

Hilton: I don't know. Nothing.

AP: Nothing? What about in your personal life?

Hilton: I don't know. Death.

AP: Why? What's so scary about death?

Hilton: Because I don't know what happens.

AP: Neither do I, Paris. So it sounds like you're entering a new phase of your life with all this talk of kids and marriage. What's up with that?

Hilton: I've been going out since I was 16. I'm sort of over it now. (Latsis) doesn't really like the whole scene and the photographers and all that. We sort of just stay in and cook and hang out.

If I don't like the person in the first place, racist comments from them are irrelevant. It's only icing on the cake and further justification of my distaste for the person.

Wow.

Racism is "irrelevant"
unless it's being expressed by someone you, Tessa, have a personal liking for?

That's what it seems like

Eh...Nicole Ritchie is caucasian to my knowledge. She is adopted. Have I missed something? Anyway, it doesn't matter much because that kind of remark would insult her father big-time, and I wouldn't want to work/be friends with someone like that. I hope kids would hear about this kind of stuff so they'd see what a waste Paris is.

whofarted Nicole Ritche is Shelia E niece. So in other words, she is half Latina and half Black. Get your facts straight.

while we're checking facts....

fact: Hispanic = Caucasian.

whofarted Your facts Tessa is incorrect b/c not all Hispanics are White. Society has got your thinking all skewed. I should know b/c I have Hisapanic blood in my family. Basically, it boils down to whom ever has the palest complextion and the straightest hair and society will recongnize them as White. However,if they have dark complexions and kinky hair then they are reconized and Black.

there are 3 races. Caucasoid, Mongoloid and Negroid.

that's why when filling out paperwork, the box says "non-Hispanic Caucasian" or "white, non-hispanic".... because Hispanic is a subcategory of the other.

ok, im not a paris hilton fan,but how do you's even know paris said that racist comment? theres no proof, its just a rumour. and why is it alright for a black person to call another black person a nigga, but it's not alright for whites? and im NOT saying whites should be aloud to call people that, but its just really dumb that its ok (for some black people) to be allowd to be called a nigga as long as the person who is saying it is black. ive even heard hispanic people call black people nigga's and there ok with that, just as long as there not european.

and another thing that annoys me is when people like nicole ritchie or mariah carey, prince etc. who have just as much caucasion (or any other race that is non-black) in them as african american (and where they look like a white person with a tan(sorry prince looks white to me), but are referred to as strictly black, and no one acknowledges there other races. i bet someone with a tenth or so of black in them (and who looked totally caucasion looking) would still be referred to as african american, whereas i bet a mostly african american person with like a tenth of white in them, wouldnt even acknowledge there caucasion side.

Wrong. Hispanic is a culture and not a race. They are a mixed people. The mestizos (which is what you are calling hispanic) are a mix of the European Spaniards and the indigenous "indians" of the land the occupied. When you see "non-Hispanic Caucasion" or "white, non-hispanic" it means just what it says which is you are a white person or caucasion without indigenous blood or hispanic culture. There is also a "black, not of hispanic origin" box, so hispanic cannot mean white. If someone is black and has hispanic culture (for example afro-cubans, panamanians, dominicans) they are considered hispanic and they sure as hell aint white

why? it's true. halle berry or alicia keys are just as much white as they are black, but thats never mentioned. im not saying you shouldnt acknowledge being black, but whats so wrong with being white? it's not cool to be white? less street cred?

You must be white. Race has nothing to do with the complexion of one's skin. What makes you think Prince has just as much caucasion in him as african-american? Both of his parents are black. Prince is black. How many times does this have to be said?

Prince looking white to you is exactly what has allowed so many of our brothas and sistas the ability to pass and cross the color line, because white people just don't know better
