Not caring is exactly what'll put that twit out of business. People paying attention to this bimbo who's famous for nothing is exactly how she became famous. Hanging on her every word and following her appearances through E! and the gossip columns is what's going to keep her famous. I really don't care that Paris Hilton called someone a racial slur, because I don't care about ANYTHING that comes out of her mouth (or goes into it, for that matter). If she was a person that mattered in any way whatsoever, then perhaps I might find the energy to get riled up about it. But she doesn't. She does nothing but show up at clubs. She has no talent but to wear slutty clothing. She has no appeal beyond a gutter trash piece of ass. Why is anyone offended by what she's said? SHE'S PARIS FUCKING HILTON for christ's sake. Of course she's an ignorant moron.

When people stop paying attention to her is when she goes out of business. And that means paying attention to stuff like this as well.

I don't give a damn if it was a bum off the street, it is not acceptable period. Paris is a public figure and has even more of a responsibility to be politically correct. When she is walking around calling people niggers in public(which is supposedly on video) that's worse no matter who the fuck she is, no matter whether I care about her or not. A lot of people don't care about the president or what he says, but he's fucking a of lot shit up for people here. If he called someone a dirty nigger, everyone should pissed, Same with Paris.

I feel very sorry for you then, if every moron's ignorant racial slur gets under your skin. It's not something a right-thinking person should express (her comment), but you're in for a very sad, bitter, disappointed life if you put stock in or the energy into being offended by the ridiculous, ignorant things that trash like Paris Hilton say.

Sure, I find the word offensive too. But to get riled up by it because some bimbo who's only famous for a sex tape and short skirts and getting drunk said it? I would hope people would do better than that, than to get incensed when morons say moronic things. Stupid is as stupid does. What else would you expect from this bim? Don't waste your outrage on her. Her 15 minutes will be up in due course.

Don't feel sorry for me. Feel sorry at the fact you feel it's ok for anyone to say any derogatory thing they want simply because you may think they don't have anything important to say and they're not living their life up to your standards. Who has to say it in order for you to get riled up? The leader of the United Nations? The Prime Minister of Canada? Alex Trebek? How important do they have to be?

Paris was famous, first, for being an heiress. This is nothing new. All heirs/heiresses are automatically famous. Look at the Vanderbilts, Astors, Carnegies, Morgans, Dukes, and the Hearsts. They're famous for having tons of money and A LOT of people want to live like them if not be them. Many young people care who Paris is and follow where she hangs out, what she says, and what she wears. If she's going to pimp her wealth, which she has done, then she has a responsibility, period.

I've been called a nigger to my face and I don't let any muthafucka say that shit to me or around me. I let it be known and so do my friends regardless of whether I think they're a bimbo or moron. It's unacceptable

If you find the word offensive, but don't say anything when it's said, then you pretty much said the word yourself

If I don't like the person in the first place, racist comments from them are irrelevant. It's only icing on the cake and further justification of my distaste for the person.

Her racist comment was already said and heard. How do you make that go away? That's the problem--not who is making racist comments, but the fact that they are being made in the first place. When are people going to move beyond this ignorant thinking?

As long as there are ignorant people (say, Paris Hilton), there is going to be ignorant thought (racism, for example). I'm sorry, I just can't work up much outrage when people I already think are ignorant say ignorant things. The Ignorant saying ignorant things is what I expect.

So basically you're condoning it? You're saying that you have to think a person is smart and intelligent in order for you to be outraged. You have to like the person also? You've obviously never been called anything derogatory before to say something like that. I'm not understanding your logic and I'm really trying to. You don't think you need to teach someone out of their ignorance? How does society progress this way?

Me? You? And just how, pray tell, is this thread going to teach Paris Hilton anything? And no, I don't condone what she said at all. But I expect ignorant people to do ignorant things. She got to where she is by people talking about her, positively and negatively; caring about the things she said and did. You perpetuate her fame by caring about this. She is irrelevant. Ignorant. That's her shtick. I have a hard time mustering outrage for something that I already knew to be true: that Paris Hilton is a moron. Sure, I can have the satisfaction of my opinion being justified by this. But it hasn't changed how I think of her, because I already thought she was ignorant trash to start with. This changes nothing.

Moral indignation can be an influential and positive thing. But it is a finite thing, and wasting it on the likes of Paris Hilton isn't worthy of your time, effort, and energy.

That you are actually impacted and moved by anything she says or does is a pity. You, and people like you, are the very reason she is where she is.

No, it really doesn't give her any responsibility. Because she is a vapid barfly, who got famous for being drunk and flashing her vagina whilst dancing on bars and getting out of limos. No one is looking up to Paris Hilton as a role model. She got famous for doing what she's doing. If the public is so stupid as to allow themselves to have this calibre of celebrity foisted upon them, then the public deserves to get irresponsible celebrities.

Paris, Nicole on the outs
By Karen Thomas, USA TODAY
It's the spat heard 'round the world.

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie - the super-rich childhood chums who made The Simple Life a hit for Fox — are feuding.

"It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends," Hilton, 24, sniped in a statement released Tuesday, offering no explanation. Pretending to be best pals on the show would be unfair to fans, Hilton says, adding, "I don't want to be fake." The lanky heiress says, "Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it."

For the time being, Richie, 23, is staying mum. Calls to her L.A. spokeswoman weren't returned Wednesday.

Last week, Hilton said Kimberly Stewart, 25, Rod's daughter, would be replacing Richie on the fourth season of The Simple Life. Fox says it's weighing options for the show's next season. Richie remains under contract.

It's all very "high school," says Lori Majewski, executive editor at Us Weekly. But circumstances certainly are different from when Simple Life hit the airwaves in December 2003. Back then, Paris was famous for being famous, and Nicole was her sidekick.

Now, Richie "has done a 360 and has become a fashion icon," Majewski says. A newly slimmed-down Richie is able to land magazine covers on her own.

"Maybe this is Paris' way of making sure she stays in the limelight that she thinks she deserves," Majewski says. In order to protect her money-making image, Hilton "needs another sidekick, not an equal."

anybody know what Rod Stewart's daughter looks like? is she kinda frumpy like Nicole was the first season?
[Edited 4/20/05 22:52pm]

Forget about Nicole Richie losing weight.

Paris Hilton needs to GAIN some freaking weight!!! The sore loser.

See, that anorexic bitch irritates me already but to call someone a dirty nigger and have a black friend? I get the feeling Nicole is the token friend anyway and the only reason they were friends was because the went to The Buckley School together. I didn't have much respect for Paris anyway, but now I have absolutely none

Paris tried to say it was her show and she could do what she wanted with it. It seems she can't because Nicole is under contract.

You know what? On this show, she seems to have Nicole doing all the stupid stuff. Why is that?

You know what? People seem to actually care that Paris Hilton called someone a dirty nigger. And you know what that implies? That people actually care about ANYTHING Paris Hilton says. And you know what that means? They're to blame for the fact that we have to put up with Paris Hilton as a reality in our daily lives. Why is that? Stop the torture sad

Good point Tessa.

But remember: It was Paris' porn video that got America talking about her, not The Simple Life!

Good point again Tessa.

This is EXACTLY why I don't even have cable TV (or TV in general) right now. It nothing but trash (counting Paris, the rich liberal racist!!!).

These days, I rather read books, listening to REAL music, or just shut up and listening to some second opinions on Prince.org! cool
