Is it me or does the Debbie thing make hardly any headlines? I don´t see any at least over here on czech serves. Whenever there´s something bad it gets all over the place, but the fact that a PROSECUTION witness is on MJ´s side does not seem to bother journalist.

He looked like Damon Albarn on that front cover. I bought the red one. smile I enjoyed that record though. It's desperate to please and I like that, even though most of the tunes are dull and monotomous. Still, as always, the voice saves all.

I just like how he focused more on the repetition of rhythms and laying the songs on top of them. They may be lacking melodically but they keep my legs busy. Reminds me of his Jacksons/Off The Wall stuff. But that very reason for my liking of it is the same reason why some folk didn't like it. Still, fuck 'em. I ain't ever been wrong yet. smile

You shouldn't knock, man. Folk are attracted to different looks. Personally, I haven't found Mike attractive since the Dangerous era, but if people do fancy him then it's their right to do so. I was just saying how he looks a lot healthier than he has in recent years, which he does. Not bad for a guy pushing 50. wink

Somehow, i don't think the Prosecution will be calling his sorry ass. Maybe they will, he's about as much use and as credible as the rest they've had on the stand so far.

anyhoo..

Unchecked CourtTV Transcript (04/28/05)

>> Joining us now is someone who always tells it like the, court tv's savannah guthrie. Tell us about Debbie Rowe's testimony from today.

>> Reporter: Well, you know, I was one of the people kind of withholding judgment on whether or not this was a disaster for the prosecution because I thought that she might say that even though she had wanted this to be a cold interview, but ultimately, it was scripted. Well, not so. On the stand today, she said that while it was true that Marc Schaffel, one of the alleged co-conspirators periodically would tell her to rephrase an answer or rephrase a question he would say to the interviewer, she said she sometimes would rephrase it, but only if it didn't change the meaning of what she wanted to say. She said she never saw a script. She did see the interviewer interview her with a list of questions, about 105 questions on that list. That's what he told her. But she didn't see them or want to see them, even though he asked her for that. So so much for Tom Sneddon's opening statement. Let me read it to you. I can guarantee you Tom Mesereau will be shoving these words down Sneddon's throat in closing arguments. He said, in the opening statement, Debbie Rowe will tell you her interview was also discriminated because they took her upstairs and did a complete rehearsal before they brought her down to be interviewed. When they didn't like her answers, they would stop the tape and tell her how to answer that. Well, you know, unfortunately for the prosecution, that is not what Debbie Rowe said on the stand today. It's interesting to me -- I don't know if they were surprised by that. You know, on redirect, they didn't try to impeach her or put before her a plyer statement she had given to police. They just left it at that.

>> Savannah, I can't tell you how compelling I think this testimony is because talk about failing to, under promise and over deliver, Tom Sneddon's got to be held to what he said in opening statement. What happened? Where did things go wrong, and do the think the defense is going to impeach her?

>> Reporter: Well, they haven't. She's off the stand now.

>> By calling another witness.

>> Reporter: Well, let me tell you about that. Right after Sneddon said that in opening statement, he said, "if you don't believe Debbie Rowe, you don't have to because her attorney present during that time is going to testify that that's exactly what they did." Well, we've now heard from iris Jones who is Debbie Rowe's attorney, and she testified yes, she was there during the entire time. She said during the interview, there were times when Marc Schaffel would interject when he heard what Debbie Rowe would said and would say, "oh, that's a great answer. Michael Jackson's going to be so pleased. You'll be getting to go up to neverland and get to see the kids." That helps for the prosecution because it's their contention that Debbie Rowe's participation in this video was conditioned upon -- that was how she was going to get to see her kids so it was sort of a quid pro quo, although Debbie herself it wasn't, but she did it in the hopes of seeing her kids. So iris Jones Silver helps the prosecution in that sense because she has Schaffel saying things like, oh, you'll get to see your kids. But she didn't say anything about a rehearsal upstairs beforehand or scripting or telling them what to say. She didn't say that on the stand. And I got to tell you that the cross-examination, Kimberly, I mean, not only did Tom Mesereau not even touch this whole coaching, scripting idea because he didn't have to, he then basically turns Debbie Rowe into a defense witness. She went on at length about how Ronald Konitzer, Marc Schaffel, some of the alleged co-conspirators were, in her words, opportunistic vultures who were out and about doing all kinds of things behind Jackson's back, that Michael had no idea what they were up to, that they were trying to make millions off of Michael. She said that Marc Schaffel was, quote, full of -- well, I can't even say the word. It's a bad word. Anyway, the point is, she said that these guys were out there doing things without Jackson even knowing about it. Then she was asked how she describes Michael on that rebuttal video. And she said, well, I said he was loving and kind, generous to a fault, great parent, great with his children. She said that -- she started to cry at one point when asked about her relationship with Michael. She said, "Well, you know, there's my Michael --" and she started to cry -- "and then there's Michael the entertainer. You came away with the feeling that this woman is still in love with Michael Jackson and still would like to be a friend of Michael Jackson. In fact, she was asked, "do you still like Michael?" She said, "yes, I still consider him a friend if he'd talk to me." It just was unbelievable to watch how this testimony progressed this afternoon.

>> All right. Well, somebody else there that can shed light on this, and this is really compelling. I can't stress enough. This is supposed to be the strong part of the prosecution's case, ending it with a bang. But now we've seen a total bust. What happened? Let's go to J. Randy Taraborrelli joining Savannah Guthrie, author of "Michael Jackson, the magic and the madness." Randy, pleasure to have you with us again. What do you make of this?

>> I'm telling you, this was stunning testimony for Michael Jackson's ex-wife, Debbie Rowe. My theory, having met Debbie Rowe and having watched her testimony now for two days is that this woman purposely snowed the prosecution --

>> Totally.

>> -- Into thinking that she was going to be a prosecution witness when she always intended to be testifying in Michael Jackson's favor. There's no doubt about it.

>> Double agent.

>> She is. She's a double agent. I mean, at one point along the way, Tom Sneddon asked her -- I mean, Tom Mesereau asked her if she knew she was being tape-recorded by prosecutors at some point. She turned to Tom Sneddon, and she said, "Damn you guys. You don't share anything with me." And then she asked Tom Mesereau, "Did they bug my phone?" I mean, there was an amazing twist in this process. I have to tell you, a very strange five minutes occurred before testimony today when the jury was out, and the lawyers were meeting in chambers about a motion that was going to strike Debbie Rowe's testimony altogether which the defense was putting forth, saying she had not corroborated the prosecution's theory that the accuser's mother's testimony and her rebuttal video have been scripted. So therefore, she should just be struck as a witness. While this was going on in chambers, I was sitting right behind Michael Jackson, and I saw Debbie Rowe nod and look at Michael Jackson and say, "I'm okay." You know, she mouthed the words "I'm okay." And Michael nodded his head. I mean, there was clearly something going on between Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe. Another point in the testimony, there was some confusion as to which tour was the first tour she had gone on. And she asked Michael Jackson, the defendant, was that the bad tour? Was that the history tour? Which tour was that? He told her it was the "dangerous" tour.

>> Unbelievable. Talk about magic in the madness. If that isn't an example of it, I don't know what is. Can everyone understand -- you're not supposed to communicate with the defendant in the middle of court. I don't know what's going on in Santa Maria, but it's a whole lot of nonsense. Lauren, what do you think?

>> Can I tell you one other thing?

>> Go ahead, savannah.

>> Reporter: Sorry to interrupt. I just want to say about that motion to strike her entire testimony that the defense made, at the end of the cross-examination, Tom Mesereau said, "no further questions, your honor. And we withdraw that motion to strike."

>> I bet.

>> Reporter: And everybody got the picture. He loved the testimony.

>> They're, like, we want to frame it. In fact, can we replay it for the jury again and again like the rebuttal video? What do you think?

>> This is exciting. This case does not stop. I mean, it is what it is. Prosecution witness ends up being a defense witness. I mean, great for Michael Jackson and the defense team, but amazing.

>> Yeah.

>> I mean, she did not say one thing -- I've been waiting all week for this.

>> Yes. She just detonated the prosecution. I got to tell you, I'm just telling the viewers this at home this was really bad, I think, for the prosecution. Let's go to Nestor, former prosecutor. Somebody got snowed here by the double agent, don't you think?

>> Reminds me of the movie "Witness For The Prosecution" where Airle Flynn plants Marlene Dietrich in the prosecution's case and she explodes. Frankly, this was bad prosecution, in my view. Whenever you have a witness that has any potential affinity with the defendant, you assure you have that stenographic statement something with which you can hit her over the head if she changes her mind on the stand. Clearly, they didn't have that here. That was a mistake.

>> Let me sum it up for the viewers. Tom Sneddon got played in the courtroom. Okay? Stick with us.

>>> Welcome back to "both sides" and our special report on the case against Michael Jackson. I'm Kimberly Guilfoyle Newsom. It's a case that promises to have more celebrity witnesses than an episode of "law & order." And Jackson, the most famous face on the planet, sat by and watched his ex-wife testify about a story most of us aren't privy to, the life and parenting skills of the king of pop. Let's go back outside that courthouse where savannah Guthrie is keeping up with every move in that courtroom and a lot of surprises today with that testimony of Debbie Rowe. In fact, savannah, I know our viewers have been seeing this shot of Debbie Rowe at lunch. I believe it's at the ivy in Beverly Hills. Who is she with in those fancy sunglasses?

>> Reporter: Okay. That's Marc Schaffel, and I believe it's either ronald or deeter, two of the alleged co-conspirators. She talked about this today during her testimony. She said this was a setup. She said Marc Schaffel set her up invited her to lunch. They're sitting outside. She believes Schaffel then called the paparazzi to take these pictures. Why? She said it was because Michael Jackson was having with all the financial honchos elsewhere in Beverly Hills, remember they were trying to basically get his financial house in order. I think Marc Geragos was there. Al Malnick was there, a lot of people were there. Yet apparently Weezner was shut out. She thinks it was a setup by none other than Marc Schaffel to send a message to Jackson. Hey, we're talking to your ex-wife.

>> My goodness that falls into line with the prosecution theory because they portrayed these guys as sort of the evildoers, right, savannah?

>> Reporter: Well, that's true. There's no question that the three come off as real sleazy guys who are out there trying to make a buck and out there doing things. But the problem for prosecutors is that Debbie Rowe tends to remove Jackson from all of this. She made all of these statements say being Jackson didn't know what was going on around him, didn't know what these guys were up to. That's really the problem, is putting Jackson into the heart of this conspiracy. As you know, they just have to show that there's an agreement among conspirators and then the acts would be attributed to Jackson. But they still have to make that connection for the jurors, that Jackson is intimately involved with this alleged conspiracy.

lol
