I love her music and I think her acting is great.

The movie would have been much better with Diana. I just hope she wouldn't sing that damn "I Will Always Love You".

As much as I can't stand Whitney, I will say, she did a great acting job in that movie. I just wish she wouldn't have opened her mouth to sing.

I love Diana but - for some reason - I've hardly seen any of her films. I've got 'Out Of Darkness' on video somewhere (taped it off tv but yet to watch it) and a 'kind' friend bought me 'Double Platinum'. That scene where she's having a hissy-fit in her dressing room... I'm sure that's just a secret camera shot they inserted in the film

Has anyone ever read 'Call Me Miss Ross'(???). It's supposed to be amazing.

To be honest, I've never been a fan. Her ego is just too damn huge for me. I do like some of the Supremes work, but Diana on her own has never excited me.

Oh come on, she's a better recording artist--and even then she's tended to benefit from good production (Berry, Chic). She's acted here and there, but be real. Aside from 'Lady' she doesn't really have that many performances to be proud of. Don't mean to diss sentimental favorites, but personally I've always liked bacon more than ham.



How bout some fried eggs and toast with that?

while she isnt a technically sound singer she does know how to express herself in song...and that shouldnt be discredited (see Mariah, Whitney and Joss Stone who have the vocal chops but cant tell a story using their voices for the life of them. and as an actress she was our the first african american bankable mainstream actress for two films....then she had to go make The Wiz. now i love that film (probably more so then The Wizard of Oz) but the film is flawed and it killed the momentum she had going. And despite the fact that she was way too old to play the role she did pull it off in wonderful fashion.

hopefully Hollywood (hello, Oprah...Miss Billions? You hear me?) will make room for our forgotten acting heavyweights. Dianne Cannon, Angela Bassett, Afre Woodard and Ms. Ross deserve to tell more stories.

Here's my take on Diana's movies...


'Lady Sings The Blues' is EXCELLENT.Diana's performance was stunning.She rightfully got an Oscar nomination for that role.

'Mohagany' gets dissed alot,but I actually like that movie.It's cheesy,to be sure,but it has a certain "so-bad-it's-good" charm to it (like many of Madonna's movies,lol).

'The Wiz' is terrible.An embarassment for all involved

I think he truly was and still is in love with her. Has anyone seen the World Music Awards from 1996 (I think) where Diana was given a legend award? She did a performance where she even went into the audience where Mj was sitting and sat on his lap while singing. I mean it was funny watching Michael watching her. He was IN HEAVEN!!! He was just STARING at her with this smile on his face and I kept watching her thinking what the hell is so special about her that makes him love her so damn much.

People seem to give The Wiz such a hard time. Its actually one of my favorite films.

Michael was excellent--and so was pretty much everyone else. Still, the movie is unfortunately very leaden at times. I think it could've benefitted from a different director & screenwriter . .The resulting film does no justice to the source material.

Im afraid that there is already plans to remake it. Ashanti is supposed to be playing Dorothy.

The Wiz was Diana's only low point as an actress. Other than that, she still have some good acting skills.
