American Idol - Nadia blew it I'd been rooting for her just on the basis of all the cliches she'd break in the music industry. But her latest song choice was ridiculous. Everyone had to do a song from the year they were born. She chose some tired Crystal Gayle tune from 1977 that nobody remembered. I thought she knew how to pick the right song, but now it seems she's sending herself home.

seems she goes out of her way to sing really obscure, non-r&b songs to prove a point...and she might just get voted off trying to prove her point. fantasia and ruben proved you can embrace r&b and still win you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I think Ruben and Fantasia are expected to sing R&B. Their careers probably won't veer to far away from the genre, either. I'd like to see someone like Nadia make it in spite of completely rejecting R&B. It's 2005!

if 30 million people watch and you get the lowest total in week 5, that doesn't bode well for your singing career. her song choices are horrific and she's not getting any ground support from any one crowd. vonzell has taken the bull by the horn and like simon said, picks songs that make you want to remember her, not forget her you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

Yeah Nadia reminded me of the chick from "The Brand New Heavies" N'Dea Davenport...I thought she would become another one of those type but I guess not... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

She is unique, has her own style and doesn't look like she rolled off an assembly line. She was doomed from the start. I'll b buying her record. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

It wasn't a good choice for that night. A disco song, or something a little more upbeat, yet with range would have been catching to the ear. Not that she has to do only uptempo R&B songs, but for that night, she could have had more fun with it. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

Anyone else think Simon's comparing of Vonzell and Nadia ignorant???
It pissed me off when he said to Vonzell 'Couple weeks ago I would have predicted you go before Nadia, but now I think you'll stay and Nadia will go home' They are two distinctly different singers. But the fact that they are the 2 African American woman in the competition makes them interchangable???? Maybe I read into it too much...I just think Simon says some stupid shit sometimes (though his critisism of the performances I usually agree with)...He does the same thing with the 2 'rockers' (I use the term 'rockers' loosely when it comes to the poser Constantine) Anyway...I was sad to see that Nadia didn't choose a more familiar song to start the show off...Last night was the first night this season that I actually was able to stomach most of the performances (Even Anthony who annoys the shit out of me with his trite early-90's adult contemporary lovin self as well as Scott...who just bugs me more than anything now) Nadia did not stand out at all.... Hopefully she gets enough votes to stick around. Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Hopefully she gets enough votes to stick around. You're right. They are nothing alike, and neither are Bo & Constantine. Maybe he just meant that they were two of his least favorites, and now he likes Vonzelle a bit more. Really though, I think he is categorizing them by sex, race, hair length, etc. He's never compared Constantine to Nadia and they are a more alike--Tall, skinny, long hair, not the best singers but a lot of personality, diverse selection of music, attractive, etc... I missed Nadia last night, but I don't think she's quite good enough to pull it off. I like her style much better than some of the other, better singers, though. Check this song out at:

I agree, I wasn't feeling Nadia's song choice last night either. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I can think of 1 song to sing from 1977,
and that was not the 1 | |

So who got voted off tonight?!! I missed it and can't find it on the web anywhere! It better be Scott or Nadia.

It was Nadia. I don't think her song choice earlier this week helped her stay in the competition. Even the judges were saying that they never heard the song she sang before. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Note to Nadia: That plot line where the misunderstood girl who wants to show everybody she's different, and yet wins their admiration and affection has n't worked since Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink. She should have got her ass up there, sang some damn songs that people remotely knew or cared about and won the damn thing. THEN you can start trying to be a reggae cyndi lauper, or crystal gayle, or dusty springfield. AI is a singing contest AND a popularity contest...you gotta make the people want to vote for you. you blew your big chance --EVEN if put out a cd next year, nobody's gonna hear it and it's not gonna sell, because you're so far down on the elimination list...see you at the Kellogg's AI tour you look better on your facebook page than you do in person
