At this point Mariah...her albums are much more honest and to heart.

Whitney has a better vocal but cant go that high anymore, and Mariah refuses to go too low.

Whitney love ya..but not enough material put out over the last decade to keep the ball rolling.

was anybody else underwhelmed by their "big" duet When You Believe? they could have done so much better.

I agree, that song was crap. You got two of the biggest female artists on a song together, and that's all they could come up with?! I was disappointed.

whitney any day, her voice is far better. I agree her albums seem contrived by her record company bosses, but thats becasue she accepts shes a singer and thats what shes good at. Maybe if mariah was taking more advice on what to sing, she'd have actually made a good song in the last 5 years. I agree whitney doesnt release enough stuff, and her albums are always pertty duff, but I dont remember mariah recording anything as good as Its Not Right But Its OK, or My Love Is Your Love in the last decade.

It was good enough to me confuse I think it's a very pretty tune and both of their vocals never out-did eachother and was on key. Loved the live performance of it also.

But that album still wasnt as great to listen to. Mariah has recorded very top quality track i.e. "Subtle Invitation" "Yours" "All My Life" "I Didnt Mean To Turn You On" "Never Too Far" "Heartbreaker" and just about everything on this new album blew Whitney's last one out of the way.

My fav Whitney album is still "My Love Is Your Love" though..it kinda lost it's momentum after the Missy produced track (which I was dissapointed by).

Mariah is 2nd rate & always will be.... cool

love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame

In their primes I'd call it a draw on all counts: stage (lack of) presence, vocal ability, material, and beauty.

When all is said and done, Mariah will likely come out better because she can probably do more growing. She shed her baggage (Mottola) and Whitney still can't get Bobby out of her system. Don't get me wrong though. I'd like both Bobby and Whitney to get well and, if possible, be happy together.

both used to be phonomenal singers who really couldn't stage a live show to save their lives.

i think it's interesting when both started to rely on r&b more extensively is when their careers took a dive. but then again, that move coincided with both of them turning into freakshows. neither of them is worth anything, career-wise at this point beyond the train wreck factor. and that's unfortunate, because they were both the best at what they did when they were younger, classier acts, and got by on their talents rather than everything that's gone on in the last 10 years with them.

Whitney Houston on a bad day could sing Mariah Carey's ass under a table.

Sad but true. Lately, the music Mariah's been releasing is crap and she proves this point.

I've been listening to Mariah's new CD and I have to say....it's better than anything Whitney has done in awhile.More importantly,Mariah seems to have gotten her life together. She's happy,drama-free and now she has the Number One album in the country. She's in the midst of a big comeback.Whitney,on the other hand,is in rehab again and can't seem to shed her baggage. She's in serious danger of becoming like Michael Jackson....getting attention for everything but her music. disbelief

I love Whitney, but she needs to take a cue from Mariah.Get her life together, leave the drugs alone and make a great album again!

I think you summed that up pretty perfectly. There seems to be a big love in for mariahs new album on this board at the moment, but it sounds like the same generic crap to me.

Dude, the love for Mariah is not only on this board - she sold about 400,000 units in one fucking week. That's rapper type shit. Mariah is officially back. And if you listen to the entire album, you will see it's not the same crap (with the exception of two songs).

We gotta get Whitney back on top....which will be more difficult - her imaged is totally tarnished...and almost impossible to revive at this point. I think (not trying to sound prejudice but this is open 2 debate if someone wants to challenge me on this) black folks will continue to support Whitney but white folks will abandon her.

I would love for Whitney to make a comeback. She's an incredible singer, and I certainly don't think her career is over. But she's gonna have to get serious and make some drastic changes in her life. She's becoming like Michael Jackson....a trainwreck who is always in the news for things that have nothing to do with music.Did you see those photos of her on the cover of last week's National Enquirer?
