Depeche Mode Recording New Album! another goodie from www.pitchforkmedia.com :
Depeche Mode Recording New LP
Rob Kleckner reports: It has been four years since Depeche Mode released their last album, Exciter, and they've finally taken to the studio to record a follow-up. The band are producing the album Santa Barbara with the help of Ben Hillier, who has worked with Elbow, Doves, and Blur. In a press release, singer Dave Gahan says, "It's a great feeling to be back together in the studio again and we are very excited about the new material. We are all feeling incredibly positive about the album. Ben Hillier has brought a whole new dynamic to the group which is quite inspiring." Last year, Depeche Mode's Remixes 81-04, sold over one million copies, and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda remixed "Enjoy the Silence", which was a hit single in the UK.

Song annoys me.....I just cant get enough of how annyoing a chorus can be I like it. And they changed pretty soon after that. Their later work sounds nothing like it. Have you heard "Personal Jesus" or "Enjoy the Silence"?

I'll qualify that by saying it'd be a stupid title for Depeche Mode.

And how bout the new one by Weezer, "Beverly Hills"? The music sounds great, like a classic Joan Jett song, but the lyrics are pretty silly.

Sweet! And I can kinda sorta see a relation. I've always thought of Weezer as the American Blur for some reason, even though their music's way different.

I was at my friend's house and we were listening to this old live DM album. It had all the killer jams on there, even "Pleasure Little Treasure". NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Don't get me wrong the remixes is kind of cool. But shit, I won't some fuckin new material. I truly miss hearing Dave Gahan's sexy voice .

Ah, that'll be "101" which is DAMN fine, I have to agree! Good to see DM are back together, recording. I seem to recall at the time of his solo album, Dave Gahan said that unless Martin Gore was more open to ideas from other band members, there would never be another DM album....but I'm glad to see that whatever their differences where, they sorted them. PS Anyone heard the Dave Gahan solo stuff..? Any good...?

His songwriting is definitely levels below that of Martin Gore. at the news of a new DM album, though. I've been listening to a lot of Ultra, Exciter, and Black Celebration this week, for some reason. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.
