What would yall say are ESSENTIAL albums to own by Ramsey Lewis..I bought his "Behind the Keys" album from the mid 90's that featured the remake of "Sun Goddess" and I LOVED that album. Just recently I picked up the ORIGINAL "Sun Goddess" album from 1974 and that CD is L E T H A L

a MASTERPEICE!!
what is some other excellent releases from Ramsey in the same vein as the "Sun Goddess" album

For his initial entry into the POP market in '65...

...The In Crowd (Due to the popularity of the instrumental title cut. Originally a vocal hit by Dobie Gray)
The rest of the record shows his depth as a pianist.

The actual Sun Goddess release in '74...

...shows his foray into funk.

Maiden Voyage (and more)...

...is a comp that showcases his pre-pop period and features Maurice White (EW&F) on drums.

My favorite Ramsey:

The In Crowd
Motherless Child
Never On Sunday
You've Changed
Sun Goddess
Hot Dawgit
Gemini Rising
Tequila Mockingbird
Spring High
Love Notes
Keys to the City
7-11

I really didn't realize how much EWF (Larry Dunn/Maurice White) had worked with Ramsey. I feel silly now because it sounds clear as a bell in songs like 7-11 and Tequila Mockingbird
