Early Queen Let's hear from people who like early Queen!
These are two of my favourites: Plus, how much of a Led Zep influence can you hear in the very early stuff - The first Queen LP in particular?

I used to own them. "seven seas of rye" was cool.
But for me it's just too much unfocused OTT riffing and not much else.

I loved early Queen and was following them until let's say the Hot Space album... after that they became rather blabaldigoogedeegooohhh...
I mean come on now... Radio Gaga? what the fuck was that supposed to be? Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Nikki Sixx (!?!) thinks Queen are better than Zep, given that Zep only really had blues as their foundation and Queen were able to develop into a much wider ranging beast.
However, he also thinks that curly haired men can't rock. Duh, ROGER DALTRY - hello??? RocknRollDave said: Let's hear from people who like early Queen!

And yes, Innuendo is one of their best albums, and a great title track too (which is also very Led Zep too) And yes, Zep were overblown blues and whether or not you like Queen, you have to agree that they were a diverse band covering a huge range of styles. Not always with success, but always with interesting results.

Have to disagree with you on Radio Ga Ga. It's a tremendous period piece, replete with experimentation and burgeoning pop sensibilities. Lyrically it's a satire on the meaninglessness of the medium and as such is more successful than the Polices' "De do do do...", and visually it's a riot of colour and a worth homage to Fritz Langs' "Metropolis" dragged kicking and screaming into the video age.

"hot space" was disco wasn't it? I love "flash", is that on it? That was ahead of it's time on the sampled clips from a film gimmick.
"radio was new" etc.....I like "the works". Strong album. Overplayed though. "a kind of magic" has its weaknesses. I love the highlander tracks like "gimmie the prize" and "princes of the universe". "dont lose ur head" is unintentionally funny thanx to john speaking "dont lose ur head". I love the track "inuendo". "the miricle" was prety piss poor in general "Love kills" is very gay but is a fantastic solo song, as was "made in heaven".

not disco, more of a Funk experiment that the fans didn't appreciate at all.. Arif Mardin was in as producer(!) back then it was rather a disapointment, but listening today I must say there are quite a cpuple of superb songs on it Body Language was always my killer cut, if only for the bass Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. Robin Gibb was on a prog called Faith & Music on UK TV last night - a dodgy series trying to link musicians up with religious beliefs () but there were some great Bee Gees clips of them live in the 70's and in the studio recording Saturday Night Fever.

I own all of the sudio Queen cds & I would have to pick A Day At The Races as my favorite album. I think they should release a double cd compilation of all the best stuff post Live Killers. If you wanna get higher, ya gotta get DEEP!

A decent Live compilation of otherwise unavailable live tracks would be nice. In fact, if you go on the official Queen site, you can purchase downloads of a number of bootlegs, but I there's not much that takes my fancy on there yet.

Seem to remember something in the rules for this org prohibiting talking about bootlegs.
Or maybe that doesn't apply to you. RocknRollDave said: MrRedbell said: I own all of the sudio Queen cds & I would have to pick A Day At The Races as my favorite album. I think they should release a double cd compilation of all the best stuff post Live Killers.

These are official, band-sanctioned releases of what were once "bootleg" illegal recordings, but are now legal, and available on their official website, like I said, you deaf twat.
