Z Cult Favorite - The Carrie Nations & Josie And The Pussycats

Two of the best all girl bands behind The Runaways were The Carrie Nations and Josie and The Pussycats! Just kidding, but hey, I loved these bands, fiction or animated, doesn't matter. Perhaps you're hip to the wonderful film classic
"Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls". A very cool looking all girl band, The Carrie Nations, which visually resembled Josie and The Pussycats. Or is that the other way around. Hmmm, both the film and the cartoon debuted in 1970. Both bands were 3 pieces and the racial makeup were dead on as well. As a kid, I always connected these two. Both bands had great music, too. The soundtrack to the film is excellent and so were the songs for the cartoon. Syu Phillips wrote all of The Carrie Nations songs such as "Find It", "Come With The Gentle People", and "Look On Up At The Bottom". Josie's material had that Jackson Five vibe down to a science. Cheryl Ladd handled Josie's vocals. Anyway, anybody dig the music to The Carrie Nations and Josie and The Pussycats?

nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

BG, it interesting that you brought these groups up. I will say that whoever wrote their material did put some effort into it. Especially, the songs from the Valley of the Dolls.

Sorry, Josie and The Pussycats weren't a trio as I stated, but a four piece band.

Yeah, yeah. Well, the parallels are still evident.

Oh my god! I saw this film about a year ago and I loved the music by the Carrie Nations! I thought they were dope as hell. Is there a cd? I would definitely get it! Plus they had a sista in the band! Gotta support that yo!

Nah, i wish there was. I have the soundtrack, though. A cat named Stu Phillips wrote all of the songs done by The Carrie Nations. The girl playing bass used to be a Playboy Bunny.
