Now on the Janet tip...hmmm....they are 2 very different albums but sorry Janet...Mriah's album had less filler, plus there were more artistic and vocally challenging material Janet wouldnt know how to handle. Yet on Janet there was some strong dance material Mariah wouldnt know what 2 do with.

Yep, I hear what you're saying. If you like her and her music then stick with her. To be honest, I never lost interest in Prince during the 90's. I thought the whole symbol schtick was hilarious and I actually like most of his 90's cd's (excluding NPS ) If the music moves you and makes you feel good, then stay loyal!

I brought "Mimi" on Tuesday and I have to tell you I really like this CD. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. Even the weak songs are fun to listen to. I haven't listened to a Mariah CD like this since "Butterfly". What makes me so happy with it is that she's FINALLY singing again and not whispering as much as she was between 1999 and 2002. When I heard "We Belong Together", I knew I had to check it out and I'm glad I did. I can call myself a Mariah Carey fan again.

imo, Butterfly was her last solid album too. It was before the attack of Snoop and Ja Rule I haven't listened to Mimi yet, and to be honest I'm not in a rush. Had it been years ago, I would've been dying to hear it. I keep reading reviews of Mariah soundin' too much like Beyonce and Jessica Simpson (or pretty much anyone but herself from the 90's, her vocals aren't as strong as they used to be) and constantly reminding everyone of her materialistic things....it's gettin' pretty old. But, I guess I'll have to see for myself and stop listening to the critics.

I think Mariah's so called time off helped her regroup herself. This is a really good album. I think it has a bit of an old school feel. Especially "Mine Again"...One of her best tracks in years.
Best line in "It's Like That": "them chickens is ash and I'm lotion" The album tends to plateau towards the end. But still listenable. I give it & 1/2!
