The Rock Steady Crew vs The NYC Breakers battle at the Roxy alone make this a hop-hop classic

nod That along w/some of club scences and the sound track added some realism to it. Otherwise, the Rae Dawn Chong plot part could have been left out b/c it wack.

Have you seen Leroy lately? He looks absolutely horrible. He was on VH1 a couple of years ago and he lives overseas now. He's a stripper in gay clubs and was walking the streets in a long ass weave and those damn leotards. He was fussing because he had just been beaten up in the street. lol

Leroy recently died of AIDS.

I wasn't a huge fan of this movie. I like it as a little time capsule now, but I loved it when it first came out.

As far as breakdancing movies go, my fave when I was a young'un was actually a television short called The Pilot. It starred Kelly Jo Minter as a wannabe breakdancer who couldn't make it in the crew because she was a girl. So she threw on a pilot's mask to hide her identity, and, of course, wowed them all. At the end, she ripped off the mask to reveal that she was female. Naturally, they were all astonished. Good stuff, man!

Did anyone see Ray Don Chong in Mick Jagger's video "Just Another Night" where he was dancing around in a trench coat and make-up looking like Prince? lol

Yeah There's Nothing Better then Fame Though, Leroy was my first crush and now i see the movie that i'm older only to notice he was completely gay lol biggrin

not saying he can't be Gay and Married...but I remember reading that he married DJ turned Rapper turned Techno artist Wanda Dee(To the Bone and The Goddess) who by the way also makes a cameo in Beat Street.

Hey I think I know her from her Rapmania performance. Was her cameo in Beat Street as a DJ for an auditioning rapper?

Since we have a thread devoted to 'Krush Groove',it's only fair that 'Beat Street' is given it's own thread too (lol).Am I the only one here who loves this 1984 movie? It's too bad that the soundtrack is out of print...there are some solid jams on that album.Remember "Beat Street Strut" by Juicy?

this movie is just plain horrible disbelief ...
