"gloryland" Daryl hall and the sounds of blackness
World cup 1994 theme. I just moved from USA>UK. It was hard. Football saved me. I love it and made a ton of friends playing it in the summer of 1994. (I moved around march 1994). Song is awesome (is ironically american). Very uplifting stuff. ITV used the sax remix as the theme to the show.

Stevie Wonder "Sir Duke"
Earth Wind & Fire "Fantasy" those songs (and accompanying albums) simply directed my musical taste and main preferences into a certain direction, one that I very seldom was able to escape from Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles
Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees First time I heard these songs I was like They just really stood out as being something different and made me appreciate quality music at a very young age. I still love all three songs very much.

Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
That whole album just blew me away. This song in particular though just always sort of hypnotized me. "Oh let the sun beat down upon my face....." "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

For me its David Bowies "The Jean Genie"!! It changed my life FOREVER!!
I was a typical teenybopper in the 70s idolizing The Osmonds, The Jackson 5 and David Cassidy, but as soon as I heard that song I lost my virginity in more ways than one!! . I literally grew up overnight!!!!!

Wouldn't this be the inverse of an MJ alert, given that it is the kids and not MJ that are lookng at porn?

Apoptygma Berzerk: "Paranoia", it made me rethink my habits while shaking my ass to that wonderful, god-like disco tune.
"One day you'll realize that you were wrong..."

My life has been changed many times, by a long list of artists, but this one stands out big time:
"Hunter" - Bjork After hearing this, I fell in love with her music and overall artistic wit.

and no, i'm not saying this because i'm going to see tori this week. hearing this song for the first time back in 1991 intro'd me to a bunch of new things and i can honestly say that no other song has ever had such reverberations.

I'm gonna say "Cooling" by Tori Amos is the most recent one to have that kind of impact on me. Music is constantly changing me, so it's a relative term. But this song literally brought me to my knees and made me see, think and feel things I never had before. Plus, it represents to me the last times I got to spend with my father while he was still alive. Truly priceless.

Stevie Wonder "Superwoman".. THAT segue into "Where Were You When I Needed You".
I think it taught me that instrumental music had just as much relevance as vocal pieces, which in effect, opened my ears to jazz (!) It is also the song that made me really fall in love with Stevie's music. Pretty monumental for me, and that track still sends chills.

this is going to sound like the biggest cliché ever...but I ow a lot to this song. It literally changed (and maybe even saved) my life. Because of this song I refound my faith and with that was able to blattle a lot of personal issues that had me going down the wrong track fast. I know this sounds stupid, but this song just got me thinking about my life and what i was doing with it. There's a long black train
Coming down the line Feeding off the souls that are lost and crying Tails of sin only evil remains Watch out brother for that long Black Train Look to the heavens You can look to the skies You can find redemption Staring back into your eyes There is protection and there is Peace the same burn in your ticket for that Long Black Train cause theres victory in the lord i say Victory in the lord Cling to the father and his holy name And dont go riding on that long Black Train Theres a engine there on that Long Black Train Making you wonder if your ride is worth the pain Hes just a waitin on your heart to say Let me ride on that long black train But u know theres victory in the lord i say Victory in the lord Cling to the father and his holy name And dont go riding on that long Black Train Well i can hear the whistle from a mile away It sounds so good But i must stay away That train is a beauty making everybody stare But its only destination is the middle of nowhere But u know theres victory in the lord i say Victory in the lord Cling to the father and his holy name And dont go riding on that long Black Train I said cling to the father and his holy name And dont go ridin on that black train Yes watch out brother for that long black train The devils a ridin that long black train. It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!
