I think that the surviving members of the band should be placed
into captivity with a quickness before they defile the legacy, or what's left of it by now, of this great band. They should have just called it quits after that last album of unreleased stuff and not gone on to release 25.000 repackaged versions of hits and release a third hits album including remix versions of songs with Wycleff and other utter shit. Now they're just making Queen a watered down laughingstock kind of affair that drifts further and further away from what it was once. Very very sad and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yes... But of the good stuff, what are your favourites? There were much worse stadium bands in the 80's. The Police, for example....

Very very sad IstenSzek, I'm not particularly a fan of Queen - although I do think they've written some fantastic songs - but, I'm curious, is this something that many Queen fans think or just people like me?? As I say I'm not a fan but every time I see Brian May & Roger Taylor hooking up with ANOTHER boy-band/has-been/wannabe/whatever, I just think 'For @£%£$&'s sake!! - leave it alone!'. Or are most Queen fans just pleased to see them in whatever incarnation? There must be a market for it. I just don't get it, I suppose. [Edited 4/11/05 5:59am]

to be honest, I like all their albums, even the
"commercial" ones. I don't listen to them as much these days as I used to but I should dig up my Queen collection from the attic and start playing them again. This thread is especially making me want to hear Sheer Heart Attack and Innuendo again. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Um, no innuendo isn't they're best work. it's a Night at the Opera (since everyone likes presenting opinions as facts). It opens strong, the entire first side is amazing. The Prphets song is incredible but after that its like the album is in wind down mode even with Bohemian Rhaapsody. thats not a bad thing. Innuendo is good, borderline great and I bet Queen wouldve have had a great resurgence in the 90's in the USA. I really loved Freddie's voice on there. I thought Sheer Heart Attack was there best until I stopped listening to cd's and started listening to records, and its easy to see that its ANATO

BreddieMercury said: Nikki Sixx (!?!) thinks Queen are better than Zep, given that Zep only really had blues as their foundation and Queen were able to develop into a much wider ranging beast.
However, he also thinks that curly haired men can't rock. Duh, ROGER DALTRY - hello??? That statement in bold, whether it's from Nikki Sixx (and yes, I've heard/read the whole comment he made) or from you agreeing with him, (are you agreeing with him?) is just ridiculous. Have you ever really listened to Led Zeppelin? Sure, their first two albums were mostly all blues-influenced, but they were actually even more influenced by both American and British folk. Jimmy Page was obsessed with it. Songs like Since I've Been Loving You, The Battle of Evermore, The Ocean, The Crunge, D'yer Maker, Fool in the Rain, All My Love, Kashmir and Friends, That's the Way, Tangerine and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, and Dazed and Confused, for example are ALL completely different styles, and drew from many different genres. Those styles include, respectively: blues, British folk, heavy rock, funk, reggae, Caribbean drums, Spanish-style guitar, Middle Eastern strings, acoustic folk, country, and psychedelic rock, to name a few. And then there are songs like "Four Sticks" and "The Rain Song" which can't really be categorized as easily. Anyway, I just had to post, even if no one reads this because it always pisses me off when people say Zeppelin only did "blues". And yes, I like early Queen. Queen is one of my fave bands. Brian May is one of my fave guitarists and has been a big influence on me as a guitarist. Queen from 74 to 80, even 81 with Bowie's Under Pressure. But yeah, Queen's first 5 albums are great. From "Father To Son" to "We Are The Champions". I grew up listening to Queen and as a kid, I wore the shit out of "Bohemian Rhapsody". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I've gotta give props to "Jazz". Maybe not my favorite Queen album (that would probably be A Night at the Opera), but Jazz has a little bit of everything that makes Queen great. There's a couple of filler tracks on there, but the great stuff is really great- Mustapha, Fat Bottomed Girls, Jealousy, Dreamer's Ball, In Only Seven Days....
