avril is far worse, no contest. at least sometimes alanis gives the impression that she 'gets it' and i think she actually does have some talent and class. plus, i don't want to break my furniture whenever i see alanis on tv. | |

I love Alanis.
I own all her albums but 3. I don't think her voice is great--but her songs are clever pop numbers that at least make an attempt to not sound 100% cliche'. Avril is basically Hillary Duff prettending to be Jello B. I mean, come on! The bitch can't pronounce David Bowie's name right for Christ sakes. | |

A Sony representative knew that I was a huge fan and would send me promotionals before the release. Then called my boss and asked if I'd like to meet her.  HELLO!?!?!?! She was opening for Michael Bolton at the time. So after her set we went back stage where she signed a couple cds for me, took pics and exchanged a few words. She was an extremely beautiful person inside and out. And man...she had a ROCK on her finger that was blinding. LOL

We didn't stay for Michael Bolton btw. We stayed until he walked out on stage. My boss asked do you want to stay for Michael Bolton? Not really. So we left.  | |

She only has four proper albums (beside the Candain teen pop ones, which I'm sure you aren't talking about). Are you talking about "Unplugged", and "Feast On Scrapes" and stuff like that as albums? For this battle, I have to go with Alanis. She has a lot of great singles but I have three of her albums (all expect "Supposed...."). However, I can barely tolerate Avril's singles! | |

what's with all the Alanis bashing anyway?
she's got a bag full of great tunes in her catalogue and she at least makes an effort and comes across -to me anyway- as quite a well developed artist. her new stuff sounds pretty good although i haven't gotten round to buying the album yet. she seems to have grown up quite a bit the last few years. she even cut her hair short  and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |
