Rod Stewart: I spent the night with a transvestite

Rod Stewart has revealed that he once spent the night "with a transvestite." In a revealing interview with Q magazine that takes a long look at his romantic history and ex-wives (Britt Eckland "hates me and wishes I was dead") he says his mates set him up at one point when they were staying in Australia. "We were all in a bar and there was this gorgeous bird," Rod, 59, said. "I thought, 'Why aren't any of the guys near her?' They'd set me up. So I took her back to my hotel." Back at the hotel Stewart discovered there was more to the story than he realized. "I put my hand down there and there's the old meat and two veg," he said. What was his response? "I thought I was very good. I said, 'Look, I'm going to go to sleep - you get that side and be gone in the morning.'"

Is this is a joke, everyone and their grandma knows Rod’s been with men, (I know gay men who have seen him at hot spots with his lover, plus we all know the stomach pump story). I like rod, but this transvestite story seems like a cop out to me. why is he pretending like it's an accident?

Has he ever come out publicly?

anyone who knows gay people knows rod stewart ain't gay. i watched some show about him on tv years ago, and it's like my gaydar went into remission or something.

as far as I know, Rod Stewart isn't viewed by the gay community at all. in fact, the only community known to view Rod Stewart in any way whatsoever is middle-adged, semi-menopausal women who still feel the need to get their panties wet over some rock star, any rock star. see also: Phil Collins.

oh, i've heard this story applied to several singers - rod stewart mainly, though. it's just a dumb urban legend, and to answer the title of this thread, i don't think the gay community really has much of an opinion of rod stewart one way or another.
