*Today is the birthday of the incomparable jazz singer Billie Holiday and BET Jazz is celebrating. The cable stop will air a special on the singer, who would have been 90, featuring some rare video and some legendary music.

The show, “Billie Holiday: Ultimate Performances,” features images and music of Holiday “from the pre-television era of her 1935 appearance in Duke Ellington's Saddest Tale to her ’50s TV appearances,” the channel posts. Legendary drummer Roy Haynes hosts the special which airs at 8 a.m., 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.



If you don’t catch it, or any of the encore performances, the performances and more are featured on the two-CD/DVD boxed set 'Billie Holiday: The Ultimate Collection.’
