REVOLVER SURVIVOR ROUND 1 IS NOW CLOSED

Alright, so my Innervisions survivor thread died before it was born, but rest assured I haven't given up on this concept, or an attempting to create an incredibly challenging one, so here I go putting arguably rock n roll's finest album up for being dismantled. Vote away, you have until Monday at 4 pm to decide which track on this, the Beatles' most groundbreaking work, you wish to be cast away first

1.Taxman
2.Elenor Rigby
3.I'm Only Sleeping
4.Love You To
5.Here, There, Everywhere
6.Yellow Submarine
7.She Said She Said
8.Good Day Sunshine
9.And Your Bird Can Sing
10.For No One
11.Doctor Robert
12.I Want To Tell You
13.Got To Get You Into My Life
14.Tomorrow Never Knows

My vote goes to And Your Bird Can Sing, despite all the multi-tracking on the guitars, easily the least interesting song on the album (though Doctor robert is pretty close behind).

I Want To Tell You - George was a nice man, but he just was not in the same league as Paul and John.

So do I - I think it's an absolutely stunning song - and it's one of the best examples of their amazing harmonies and features some truly kick-ass bass playing by Paul.

I gotta disagree there. I think George wrote some of the best Beatle songs. Hell Taxman and Love You To are among the best songs on this album easily. And While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here Comes The Sun, Something rival the best stuff Lennon or McCartney ever did.

As for Yellow Submarine, I c'mon it's one of the best idiosyncratic children's singalongs the Beatles, or anybody else ever did. lol

I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree then, because I'll never be able to see George as more than a medium talent who was lucky enough to find himself attached to the songwriting team who produced the second greatest songbook of the twentieth century (only behind Cole Porter).

Just my opinion, yours to leave or take.

I completely agree with this, on the other hand. I think Yellow Submarine is totally fun - not the most profound song, but it's clever, and (as always) very well-written.

Tomorrow Never Knows. No particular reason, I just don't care for it much.

I think George was certainly more than a medium talent and All Things Must Pass more or less shows it. As capn marvel, one of my favorite reviewers once said

"This album just simply sums up all of the positive qualities Harrison ever had as an artist and a human being all in one seam-straining package. What would YOU do if you'd quietly steamed as a songwriter for 6 years underneath the megalomaniacal iron fist of Mr. John Paul McCartney and the insensitive ignorance of Mr. John Lennon in the most artistically, socially, and monetarily successful musical group of all time, allowed to trickle out your compositions one at a time while good ol' Paulie got to throw out shite like 'Honey Pie' and 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' and Johnny got to masturbate in the swimming pool for 8 minutes with 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' and Ringo, Ringo!!! Who couldn't write a decent song with 2 years free time, Booker T and the MG's in the studio, and fucking Burt Bacharach on speed dial!!! got thrown a bone about as often as you did. How would you feel?"
