III anyone? hey
This will probably be another of those topics that dissapears without a single reply...but what the heck, if worse comes to worse I can always talk with myself. Anyways, wether you like country or not...wether you think his stints with heavy-metal are taking it too far or not...you gotta respect this guy. He's doing his own thing, without caring what anyone else (especialy trashville)says. He's currently in a battle with his record company that's quite similar to Prince vs WB...for example, since his company refuses to release his music without having control over it...he just released it himself, outside of his contract (breaching his contract in doing so). he allows his fans to tape his live shows, heck his own website has a forum where his fans can trade their recordings. This guy is the next generation of outlaws and I'm sure will be next to waylon & willie when the day is over. It's good to see his grandfather's legacy is carried on so proudly. oh, and I almost forgot the most important thing (think altzheimer is kicking in) ...His music is unbelievable. grtz Kev1n [Edited 4/8/05 4:33am] It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I like his old school country stuff (Whisky, Weed & Women) and the metal stuff he is doing with AssJack. He recently played in SF, one set of country, one set of metal. In the middle of his country set, he says "Well, were just about done playin this hillbilly shit and then we're gonna play some music that will make y'all run on outa here." He was right....once the metal started, most of the crowd split. [Edited 4/8/05 7:36am] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

[Edited 4/8/05 7:36am] don't shoot me for this...but that kinda reminds me of Bob Dylan in the mid-60's. Hope I'll get to see him perform sometimes, must be a helluva show. Were you in the audience that show btw? It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

[Edited 4/8/05 7:36am] This sounds kinda cool. Does the metal stuff still have country elements in it? I could get into country-metal.

Check it out here: http://www.hank3.com/music.htm A lot is straight up thrash. [Edited 4/8/05 12:52pm] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Kinda makes me wish Al Jourgensen would hurry up and release that Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters album already.

I am a fan. I've only made it to 2 shows but BOTH have been a blast. Weirdly, we have 3 CDs in our house from him, but I never listen to them. Yet, I totally love his performances. I will admit though, I'm one of those who stays on the floor through the whole 'country' set. I then make it through about 3-4 of the 'metal' songs and head upstairs to drink and watch from further away. It's just a bit much for me As for the crowd... I've only seen Hank at First Ave, so this may only apply to Mpls. The majority of the crowd I've seen at shows have been a mash-up of punksters/hipsters. There is a handful of folks from the trailer park, but they are the minority. It makes for good people watching. kev1n- I hope you get a chance to catch him live, it's a GREAT time

Hipster overkill in these parts. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on
