alejandro escovedo - portalnd 4/7/2005 last night i had the opportunity to go see alejandro escovedo here in portland. i believe he is sheila e.'s cousin.
the show was really great. when you go to see alejandro, you never know exactly what to expect. in his early years he fronted punk bands, the was on the forefront of cow-punk, then punk-glam, then was one of the architechs of the alt-country movement. i have seen him, when his band was him singing/guitar, a cello, violin, acoustic bass, and drums, and i have seen him with all electric band. this show was a 7 piece band. alejandro guitar/vocals, a cello, a violin, drums, electric bass, keyboards, second guitar player. they expertly morphed between punk, blues/rock, glam/rock, acoustic singer/songwriter, and alt-country songs. it was awesome. if you see that he is playing near you, take my advise and go check it out (ok, my prediction for this thread, 7-10 views, no replies) ------------------------------------------------
