Eddie Murphy's music appreciation.

Eddie was a reasonable singer. He can stay within his limited range and of course has good adlibs (check "put ur mouth on me") so he is a cut above ur average singer.

Off each of his 3 albums "how could it be" (1985) "so happy" (1989) "loves alright" (1992), there are at least a few really good pop songs. He was more then a novalty act.

"party all the time" "put your mouth on me" "so happy" "tonight" (produced by Larry Blackmon- really good rnb slowjam) "one" "wahtzupwitu" "I was a king" "always is love"

"don't give up on love", off 1992's "loves alright" is is a first rate quiet storm ballad. Reminds me of Al Jarreau. Maybe if they kept his name anonymous it would of got momentum on radio stations.

By 1992's "loves alright", u get the feeling he really had found love. Compare it to 1989's "so happy" album. That album reflects his attitude towards women on tracks like "'till the moneys gone" "love moans" etc.....his attutude has changed.

So infact u get an artist as Eddie has grown between the 2 albums. Something I did not notice before.

If it had been just a normal singer, he would of been bigger then Eddie was. But as Eddie was already famous, his music got hampered by haters etc.....all 3 of his albums are good. Not great, but all have some steller cuts.

Was "whatzupwitu" a big hit?

Ha ha. He proberly was playing "put ur mouth on me" when he pulled up in his car. Maybe he got out of his car and started dancing to it

"put ur mouth on me" is an awesome song. Funny too and perhaps one of the campiest song u can find

Man, those albums were awful! Especially "Potty All The Time" (I know its not the title, but that's what it sounds like he's singing!)

Oh god. I bought 'Love's alright' from somewhere primarily for the cuts with MJ on. It's not good, really it isn't. I can't find it and i don't care.

From the first album, the song "Party All The Time" sounds pretty good. Of course, it's a Rick James production and has that sound, so naturally I was going to enjoy it. "How Could It Be" is decent.

"Put Your Mouth On Me" was absolutely stupid and reminds me of some shit that Weird Al Yankovic might make.

I enjoyed a lot of the tracks on the "Love's Alright" album. The title track has a very "Prince-like" sound which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the song "I Was A King", the house type track "One", and the remake of "Hey Joe". "Whahzupwithu" and the opening track of the album (I can't think of the name of it....the one with all the guest artists) was absolutely horrible. The other tracks were decent.

I like post-1994 Kylie only. The rest of her stuff is shit (with the exception of a few corny songs like Better The Devil You Know).

And I like Never Gonna Give You Up - that's it.

Surely if u like "never gonna give u up" then u'll like at least one of the other tracks on the album. The video is so funny because it's crap.

The video is fucking hilarious lol

But, no, I don't. They all sound the same and are too bland for me. At least NGGYU has some semblance of a beat.

Yet again, if we both did a survey on the street and said "who u prefer, Hammer or Kyle Minogue". Kylie would lose. People only know one hammer song, but he'd still win.

Are you on crack? Everyone thinks hammer is a damn fool. "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" is stuck in more people's minds than anything he's done.

Hammer may be a fool, but people still bang "u can't touch this". Even my Dad likes that song.

Kylie looks like a horse. 'Nuff said
