Anyone ever checked out Marvin Gaye's Here My Dear/In Our Lifetime 2-Disc Set? I bought this import yesterday and it's a great value. I really bought it for the In Our Lifetime album, since I already have Here My Dear. My favorite tunes on the In Our Lifetime album is Life Is For Learning, Ego Tripping Out, and Funk Me. I really want the folks at Universal/Motown to release the unfinished Love Man album he recorded in 1979. After reading most of the Divided Soul book, the album Love Man was one of those quickie disco party albums. I really think In Our Lifetime & Here My Dear is one of his latter great albums, especially Here My Dear, which is a masterpiece just beside his 1971 classic, What's Going On. So, has anyone checked out this 2-disc set? Check me out and add me on:

i bought the 2 cd's back in the late 90's for like $12 a piece, new, when i was going through my marvin gaye phase....i don't know why they would have jacked the price up so much for in our lifetime now..i checked on amazon.com, and they do indeed want $45...it's aiight..not groundbreaking...i hardly ever listen to it, but since it's worth almost $50, maybe i'll burn it to a cdr and sell it on ebay you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I bought both of these CDs separately back in the 90s.Neither album is Marvin at his best.In fact,Marvin himself was very dissatisfied with 'In Our Lifetime',claiming that a few tracks weren't even completely finished. And I know alot of people consider 'Here My Dear' to be a masterpiece, but it's not one of my favorite Marvin Gaye albums.

Yeah, In Our Liftime is a patchy album but there's still a few decent tracks on it. And Here, My Dear may not be a masterpiece but I think it's damn good work. It just takes a bit of effort to truly appreciate.
