remixes/extended versions that really sucked

Patti Labelle--Yo Mister---I was so pissed when bought this shit...I was ready to jam out on some extended Prince and Patti..and there was no Prince mad

ABC- Poison Arrow--after the slamming 12" of The Look Of Love, I was loving the album/single version of Posion Arrow...but that remix was as rancid as a dirty nutsack on a hot Arizona day! mad

Janet Jackson-Anytime, Anyplace (R. Kelly remix)---why even put this mess out..it sucked next to the album version

Anxiety

a bunch of 'em. in general, i think remixed pop singles tend to be pretty stinky. there are several noteable exceptions, of course, but i don't have a lot of faith in remixes.

Unless your New Order, Depeche Mode, or any type of electro/techno/blah blah blah, it's risky.

Most of Prince's music just doesn't sound right in the mix.

I differ with alot of folks about Rave In2 as opposed to Rave Un2. I think the original Rave Un2 was just fine--the remix garbage sounded to lifeless to me.

Except almost all of Prince's 80's extended versions were the fucking bomb. Some of the best stuff of his career.

Co-sign.

Prince's 12" singles of the 1980's were extended versions of songs, not remixes per se. They were key to my true appreciation of the man's genius.

I've got the extended version of ALC but that is the one PR extended single I did not buy.

Prince - "America"

I have no problem with songs being long, actually the longer the better, but this song sounds the same all the way through once you get past the album version. It never switches up and goes on forever.

I love it. It's trippy. Great to nod along and space out to.

I never mch cared for extended versions. They just have and extra 2 min intro and then 2 min outro and thats it usually. Remixes can be steller. Personally, remixes for rnb got alot more adventourous by the advent of newjackswing in the late 80's. U got some killer Guy remixes for example. That are rare as fuck now.

A few that sucked

Jermaine Jackson "u said u said"
Ray parker jr "ghostbusters"

errr some more but I cannot think. I imagine they are in a charity shop somewhere now. Alot of 12" I get I sell on.....
